I have been messing with his ears for 2 days...yesterday I shaved them and today I did the paper glued on and then wrapped in medical bandage...Are they supposed to go right up when you put the paper on? His weren't. Whic is why I added the bandage. How do I add a picture to this and I'll show you what it looks like so far? |

Lanie, I was just curious- how old was your Yorkie when you did this idea? I think it's a great idea- and if it comes to it I will use the same method on mine. My yorkie is 8 weeks & the ears aren't standing- which I know there's still a high chance they will since he is so young. But, his mother's ears are floppy. His father's ears I'm not sure- I can't remember. But anyway- how old was your yorkie? thanks :) |
I'm gonna make my babys appointment tomorrow to get her groomed to make sure her ears are done and ready to go.. then I'm going to try and use some of your guys helpful tips. I can't wait. I really hope it works so she can have that standard yorkie look buy even if not I'm still gonna love her regardless. If anyone has anymore information that can help please please please message me 😉👍 |
Have you read this thread yet...? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...-stand-up.html |
you can also use the tear mender on the outside. Just use a dot on the outside of the ear and use the hair between the ears as an anchor. Place the ears where you want them to be, press the glued area to the hair, hold for 30-45 seconds and they will stay up. You can either trim the hair or use nail polish remover to remove the glue with no damage to the hair. My puppies don't even notice that its been done. No damage to skin and very minimal risk of impaired circulation. |
A lot of information out there on getting a Yorkie's ears to stand is anecdotal. There's no way to know whether they would have stood up on their own. I wouldn't sweat it too much. If the ears are going to stand, then they will stand on their own. If not, then they won't. I would make sure my Yorkie has the best nutrition and keep the hair on the ears short, but beyond that, I don't believe in taping or gluing. |
