| Tell me what you think.. (New Puppy, Breeder ?) I need help! We thought we had found the "perfect" breeder to get our newest girl from. She said all the right things until I realized that she was also breeding mixed breeds. She has the typical AKC puppies, but has recently added a new "designer" section to her website. This didn't upset me until I started reading about the prices. She has the following: Maltepoos Males: $650 Females - $650 Tiny teacups - $950 Shih-poos Males: $400 Females - $550 Imperial teacups - $950 The "teacup" set me off. Bri would be considered a "teacup" and I would NEVER breed her. She is WAY too tiny. It just breaks my heart. So my question is, what would you do? Would you run?

| I would hate to have to do it, but yes. The breeder I got Whitney from breeds "designer" mutts and I didn't have the heart to let her go when I found out, which was just a few weeks before I got her, after I put my deposit down and got attached. I wish I had had the fortitude to make a statement. My breeder didn't advertise teacup and certainly didn't hike the prices that insanely high for her smaller pups either! And her mixed dogs weren't nearly that expensive. That's crazy. I paid less for my Whitney than she is charging for her malte-poos!

Anyone can learn to talk the talk (well somewhat), but, they can't walk the walk.

| Thanks. We emailed the lady and decided not to put a deposit down. I'm heart broken, but I knew I didn't want to continue on with a breeder that sky rockets her price for smaller puppies.. especially mixed breed. Now the search begins. If only Bri's breeder had puppies!!

| "Imperial teacups" is redundant. "Imperial" is a term used to describe an under-sized shih-tzu the same way "teacup" is used to describe an under-sized Yorkie.

I may restart the search on Shih Tzus now that this offer didn't work Def. not looking for a small teacup/imperial whatever.. Bri is barely 4lbs and was supposed to be 7lbs. We kinda want something a little bigger!
