| 3 Year Old Yorkie Pooping in crate :( Hey everyone! I wanted to see what suggestions you guys have for me. My 3 year old yorkie just recently started pooping in her crate at night. She has always slept in her crate at night and has always held it until we let her out in the morning until about a month ago. I tried putting her food up after about 7 p.m. so she isn't eating too late and it seemed to help for a few days but then she started going again I also make sure i throughly clean her crate right after she goes (or the next morning when she is in the back yard). She gets taken on plenty of walks and has play time because I am home all day with her. My husband said something about her rebelling because we are expecting a baby in June (first baby) and maybe she can tell something is changing. I try to include her in all of the baby preparations like setting up the nursery and what not, i even put a little bed in there that she can lounge in while i'm in there. I'm not sure what is going on with her and I would love to see what you all suggest! Feel free to ask any questions also because I'm sure i left something out :/

| Are you taking her out in the middle of the night? If not that may help.

| How big is the crate? I would find the absolute smallest size so she can just sleep and stand up. Usually they don't like doing anything where they sleep - good luck! |

| Also try giving her a late night treat as that will often stimulate a poo within a half hr or so & then take her out for the last time before she goes in her crate. |

| The size of the crate you should have is where she can stand up and is able to turn around and lay down. Try to get her to poo before going to bed.. Or try to get up in the middle of the night and take her for a potty break.

| Her crate is the smallest size (shes 4 lbs.) and i let her outside before bed but it seems no matter how long she is playing out there (5 minutes or 25 minutes) she doesnt go #2 she never used to go in her crate until recently, i blamed the first couple times on maybe her stomach hurting but its becoming a regular routine and after she goes she whines and whines until i wake up and clean her crate in the middle of the night. She doesnt even whine before she has to go, she just goes and then whines after! its so frustrating

| Are you seeing a pattern as to what time of the night she is whining to have you clean her crate? Maybe if she is doing this close to the same time each night you could set an alarm and take her out before she has a chance to do it in her crate.

| Have you had her anal glands checked ? sometimes that will make them go off schedule as it makes it uncomfortable to go. Also you can try adding some fiber to her diet, frozen green beans a couple each meal or canned pumpkin, just pumpkin not the pumpkin pie filling. Try these things & I'll bet you will find one or the other or possibly both anals & fiber will work. |

| Is she pad trained, if yes you could leave the crate door open and have her use the pad. |
