I"m trying to think what I got for Gizmo. I know I got him a good, step in harness, a matching leash and collar (of course, keeping in mind he never stays in his collar when unattended) a crate, tons and tons of toys, all natural chicken training treats, eye wipes, puppy shampoo, a brush (good to get them use to being brushed early), and lots of cute little outfits! Hehe!!! Please be sure to post pictures! Once again, so happy for you! |
Congratulations!!!! So glad you found the yorkie you've been waiting for!!!! :yorkiesar |
Thanks Gals! making a list right now!! eye whipes, good one.. didnt think of that!! also.. ok crate training? is this a must? I've never done crate training before.. i think i would feel bad for her putting her in there.. when do you put them in there?? ok i know nothing about crate training.. how does that work? and does the puppy get sad in there? :( open to ALL advice... :o) soooooooooo excited! |
OH! another question... what kind of shampoo is good? i mean i have dog shampoo for my boyfriends beagle.. but i know yorkies need something diffrent right? |

As for crate training, we discovered with Gizmo that just putting him in there when we go to the store, have to work, or when we're not in the . But he sleeps with us. I guess it's different with every Yorkie and every Yorkie owner. I know alot of YT members also use expens. So, that would be something to consider also. Also, your pup will probably begin teething, no rawhide for fur babies! Gizmo loves bully sticks so that's another options. Oh he loves his kong too! |

Congrats! I'm so excited for you too! :D Can't wait to see pictures. |
I just started using John Paul Pet Oatmeal Shampoo and Conditioning Rinse (Belle was itchy too) and so far I really like it.... today was bath day:) As far as crate training.... I don't like it. Belle has an ex-pen for the rare occasions when she is home alone. You might want to get a carrier for her, too. |
I had a sneaky suspicion this was going on. :D When I noticed the PM going on!! :) I am sooo excited for you!!! Ok, on to what you need. Get some Nutri Cal to keep on hand for low blood sugar. Of course, you need a food and water bowl. And food!! Here is a site that will tell you about foods. Dog Food Comparison Chart - Dog Food Ratings of Premium Dog Food and Supermarket Shampoo is a tough one. I am using the Chris Christensen Day to Day shampoo. I really like it. I have also used Yorkie Splash and Shine. I liked it too. I really like the smell of it. Here is the link to it. Yorkie Splash and Shine | Yorkie Shampoo - Sets I did not crate train Rosie. She sleeps right in the middle of me and my husband. :p She keeps him in line!! ;) When I first got Rosie I purchased her a bed that is now her toy box!! I can feel your excitement through my computer!! :) Can't wait to see pictures!!!! |

How old will your new baby be? Boy or girl? Inquiring minds want to know! ;) |

I would call on Monday. Maybe your vet will work with you and get your new baby in. I always prefer to use my vet over another one. That is why I hate having to go to the ER Vet. I want to see my own!! |

No heating pad for us. Gizmo and I just cuddle. I'm his giant heating pad. :0) |
@ baby girl rosie.. yes definitly calling first thing monday morning.. i just dont trust anyone but my vet.. i have an amazing vet.. it took me awhile in choosing a vet when i got my kitties.. i wanted somewhere personable with a great repuatation.. hes a little out of the way but i dont mind because i only want the best for my babies! |

Perhaps we will see you around there! I have three yorkies and live right in Providence so if you need anything with your new puppy just let me know as I'm close by. |

ok Yorkie lovers.. are you ready for my next question? haha ok so.. introducing the new pup to my current pets.. any advice.. im not worried about maggie my boyfriends beagle.. or Raisen my black kitty.. im a little worried about my siamese blue.. (not worried for the pup.. worried for blue) hes kind of the big baby of the house.. hes my lap cat (currently on my lap now) i'm a little worried he might get a little jealous at first.. should i seperate them in the begining? or should i introduce them right away? when i got raisen i introduced them right away and it was love at first sight (brotherly love) but just wondering whats the best thing to do.. |
Eek, not a cat lover. Don't know what to tell you for this one. However, I introduced Giz to Maizey (who is a dog) slowly. Especially since alot of animals have the territory issues. So, I think gradual, without allowing the cat for corner the new pup and visa versa. So therefore it's not forced and they can get to know each other on their own terms. Also, make sure they're supervised when around each other. Probably didn't help much, but that's what I did with introductions. P.s. Even though Giz is a boy, I'm now looking at all kinds of websites to get him Pj's and fleeces since he loves his fleece blanket. So, even boys can get you in trouble with accessories. |
