That's so scary. I'm glad your dad was able to get Poppy to stop. Rhett is a Houdini with his harness, too. I'm going to look in to that other type.

Oh my gosh Rachael! So glad Poppy is okay. Your Dad is a hero for going after her like that! Poor guy, he was clearly so scared. I'm glad you posted this, bc it reminds me to double check all my harnesses now. But, it's confusing bc Poppy's harness did fit so well.

OMG Rachel. Sorry to hear that. Glad the pwincess is fine. If we don't die from an illness, we die from a heartattack our dogs will give us..LOL

I know I just dont understand how she got out at all. But I will be looking into a new harness and make sure I bring treats or a toy with me next time just incase.

Just found your thread and it is terrifying. I am so glad that your dad bellowed out and stopped Poppy!!! Good for Daddy!!! He is a hero in my book. It all could have ended so differently but because he did what it took and your dog was trained enough to know real authority when she heard it, there was a great ending. Thanks for the post as these stories just keep us reminded of how easy it is for things to happen when we least expect it.

OMG! Your poor Dad! And You! So very glad Poppy is okay after this incident... I know exactly how it feels... my Biewer slipped out of her harness about our 5th walk, like a professional!

Makes you lose your mind! We had just crossed the busiest street in my neighborhood and we were in the road.
Since that happened, I bought Buddy Belts for all mine, and have not had a reoccurence of slipping out yet... not even close!

I did however find a knock-off company, as two of mine are larger doggies, it was more affordable. The company has a branch in the UK, here's a link... you may want to call them to find a distributor...

I know, when you loose them it is so hard not to panic and run after them. I know your not suposed to because it will make them think it is a game and they will run away furthur, but your first reaction is to catch them! Im just glad he took control before she reached the road and that she listened. It makes me feel sick to think what could have happend.

it must have been a terrible experience for him , my poppy has the soft material puppia harness ,

I had a similar incident once with Bella where she got excited and literally twisted & turned like a wild little banshee (sp?) and next thing I saw was she literally was able to get one shoulder inverted just a bit and when I tugged...poof, she was out of it in a split second.

That is the reason I will only use the vest type harness that velcro's shut and then has a plastic snap-clasp on top of that with two D-Rings. She's locked up tighter than Fort Knox!

She is my only bad

houdini-baby who must wear a straight jacket before exiting our home and since that one time, there has not been a repeat performance!
