| A few questions!! Just a few quesions that I have to make sure I am not doing anything wrong..How ofter do I need to be bathing them? During the bath, am I not supposed to get their ears and face wet? At what age do I start brushing teeth? Is it ok to use the same toothbrush for both of them? At what age do they need to be started on Heartworm prevention? Tucker is on Revolution and just had his last dose of it and I don't like it that much. Maddie will be coming home on Friday and I want them both on the same thing.. Will the vet give me something without another visit or do they have to test them before they give something? Also, the vet tech told me that I can get heartworm prevention at my local co-op for much cheaper but the vet will never tell me that because they want me to buy from them.. Is this true? Is he flea control that you can buy at Petsmart any good? Why does it have to be Frontline? I think that is all for now.. Thanks and sorry it is so long...Just wanna be the perfect parent! |

| Um I can't help too much but I will try! I am in the same boat I have another new baby joining my porscha in about 3 weeks so I am thinking about the same things. This is what I think....bathing I bath porscha 1 to 2 times a week depending on what she has gotten into! If she has gotten into mud or something I will wash her right away if she has been out of trouble for a few days I wait for a while. I let her face and ears get wet but not like direct spray on them, using a wash cloth on those areas works out well. Age of brushing teeth not sure but I think the sooner you get them use to it the better. I would use two different brushes just incase of any spread of illness. Porscha started heartworm I think at like 3 months? It was one of her first few vet visits. Flea control I wouldn't buy anything unless you need it or think it may be a problem. Hope some of this helps! |

| I started bathing my dogs at 8 weeks. You can use a washcloth on their heads if you want to I just put them in the sink and use the sprayer. I bathe mine every two weeks but some people bathe once a week. I started brushing their teeth as soon as I got them. They each have their own brush. Heartworm meds were given at my first vet visit along with flea meds. I just call my vets office when I need flea meds or heartworm and go in and pick them up with no appointment. My vet didnt do any test for the heartworm before giving it. If you can find it at the co-op cheaper I would get it there. I use advantage for flea meds and I get it at the vet but you can also get it at petco and pet supplies plus. Dont use Hartz products they are dangerous plus I dont think anything but the premium flea meds are effective.
