Hi everyone! Just joined today and am eager to look around a bit. I don't have a Yorkie baby yet but I hope to someday. I have been trying to adopt an adult for over a year now but have yet to even get an interview with a rescue organization. There are always so many people ahead of me wanting the same baby.

I try not to get my hopes up but have to admit to being broken hearted on more than one occasion. Just this morning was one of those times. Even so, I have faith it will happen eventually. Anyway....I am a stay at home wife with three grown children and a lot of time on my hands. Yorkietalk looks like a fun place to spend some of that time....off to check things out

Welcome to YT. One day your baby will come. When the time is right it WILL happen. Best of luck to you and when it does happen...please post pic's.

Have you been watching your shelter also. There are yorkies in our animal shelters all the time. Best of luck finding a yorkie

Look under the AKC breeders, that show Yorkies, and start calling or emailing them about adopting one of their retired females. They are always spayed, very healthy without health problems and would make such a wonderful family member, especially because they won't have to live life in a crate or run.

Hey there... welcome to YT! I am very new here and let me first say... this site has been so amazing. Very welcoming people with a wealth of advice. I rescued my Yorkie, Oliver, just over a month ago... he is a 6 year old baby that was from a puppy mill in Missouri. I found him on Petfinder.com. I had a great experience.. and all of the dogs on there are rescues living with foster parents. Oliver has had some health issues.. his paws are infected from being in a crate for so long. The vet feels like this will soon be fixed with meds. Adopting my baby was the best thing I've ever done. Good luck with your search... please update!

Thanks for the welcome! I do make frequent visits to local shelters and will continue to do so. I'm not giving up, I just get a bit frustrated sometimes. I've never thought of looking for a retired breeder....that term sounds terrible

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into that in the morning. Can't wait until I have a sweet baby to share with you all!
