In my opinion, you are not the best judge of this poor little baby's actual medical condition and if the little thing is that bad off, wouldn't you rather she be vet checked, given some pain medication and be euthanized than starve miserably to death there as her little organs fail her one by one, with people who could care less? Any Animal Control vet worth his or her salt will fight to save a Yorkshire Terrier who has a chance of survival as their chances of rehoming are so great. On the other hand if that little baby is going to suffer to death, a humane vet will choose to let her die under as painless conditions as possible. I can't think any animal control officer or vet could care any less about her than that owner, if the picture you have drawn of her is correct! Call Animal Control and let the professionals have a chance to save her as this woman may feed her for a month and forget her again should she manage somehow to live on.

this woman is a friend of a friend, not a friend that i have ever hang out with or go out and eat lunch, nor ever gone shopping with.
I do not think leagally I could just take her dog without her permission. Yesterday was the first time I even seen her dog.
Like I wrote before I am definately going to do my part , even if I have no other choice then call animal control.
I have never seen something like this before, ever. It is shocking, disgusting , and very disturbing. I am in just as much horror as you guys.

Good for you for being involved. I think I'd try to work with Nancy on this, and not say anything about animal control or she might hide the dog. People get so defensive when they think you think they are abusing their children/animals. You could just say, you would be willing to temporary care for the dog, if that's possible for you. There might be someone else on the forum who could do it too, if you can't, but first you have to learn if she will work with you.

Why? I will never understand why people get a living, breathing being and then they don't take care of it. This is too sad. I hope this precious baby will find a home where she is taken care of, loved and will no longer be abused.

This really upsets me . This poor baby is ill. She could be starving from too little food, or from having an illness...an urgent illness - or, something as easily treated as hyperthyroid. I don't understand how someone could do this.

Oh, I don't get it either. If the OP is right in what she describes, this poor little thing is suffering, probably near death and given the track record, I don't think her owner can be relied upon to really help her. I don't blame OP for not wanting her just put down willy-nilly by some uncaring government agency but at this point I think I could trust Animal Control's empathy for this poor little dog more than the people who allowed this to happen and apparently have sought no vet care once she got so thin. All I can hope is that in her concern OP was dramatizing and the baby really isn't so near gone. Otherwise, I will go crazy tonight knowing I live in the same country as this owner!

Update on puppy,
I was over owners house for a an haour and half , just got back. Thw owner told me that Zowie, the name of her yorkie has TAPEWORM> Aparently seen alive in the dog's stools. The yorkie seemed to have energy , and is very close to Nancy.
Zowie is a pound and a half. I don't know much about tapeworm , but was told that it is from fleas. And this is why the yorkie pup was not getting enough nutrients.
Also, Zowie is going to the vet tommorow , by Nancy's friend who is taking her. I kept letting her know if she needed anything, help care for her pup that i was here for her.
