| I think getting an x pen is the best idea. I never crate trained any of our dogs. They don't like to sleep where they pee and poop. With an x pen you can put a bed inside with a pee pad and at least he's not lying in it. As he gets older he will be able to hold it for a longer time. |

| sounds like you are on your way to getting your little guy trained. When we first got out little one I had a baby monitor on so I could hear when he started to stir. I would let him out on the pad then and give him a little bit of lovins and put him back in the crate. This was only til we got our expen.Once we got the expen, I had his crate, pad, water bowl and food in it. While he didn't know what he was supposed to do with the pad, we worked with him when we were awake and eventually he "got it". He's been in his expen ever since and now all we have to say is,"nite, nite" and they both go off to bed. I've since taken their crate down. Best of luck and keep up the good job!

| Good news!!! Maybe too good too quickly! Last night there were no accidents, I also went to work today, and there were no messes both when I came home from lunch and when my fiancée came home from work. Little guy is finally getting in a groove. On that note, thank you all for your words of encouragement. I forgot how training a puppy can seriously make you want to pull your hair out. Love you all! They have set backs when they are teething, and after neutering. Just keep some enzyme cleaner handy, it keeps them from feeling compelled to remark the spot. If they can smell the slightest bit of protein from the urine, they will feel compelled to go on the same spot again and again. That’s why you need an enzyme that gets rid of the protein, not just a deodorant that gets rid of the smell because their noses are 1000 times better than ours.

| Yippy! So glad it was just a basic training issue for you and that you are seeing progress in it already...before going bald Quote:
