| that was kind of funny. as i read that post i was picturing this happening to me. and yes i have dropped the leash before and went in to a panic. but the mud and grass stains were not in my picture. LOL . i was running and dragging the other dog behind me. LOL. i am glad every thing came out ok.(including grass stains).

| Here's something I've been doing to encourage Susan to come, but it only works if you have fallen leaves nearby, so it isn't going to work much longer. Anyway, I reach down and grab and handful of leaves and scrub them on the ground in front of me as I call her playfully. She stops whatever she's doing and DASHES to me. Then (as always when I call her) I scoop her up and have party time with her. She's getting better and better at coming (even without leaves). I try to make it a really, really happy thing for her to come. I read that in a dog book and it seems to work. What's really HARD is when you're scared and trying to get the dog to come and make it look like it's all fun and games. However, if Susan hears real panic in my voice she runs to me to get picked up. She's a coward. |
