Hepburn is getting neutered tomorrow (finally) Hi all. I am quite nervous because tomorrow Hepburn is getting neutered and getting a bunch of baby teeth pulled (quite late, but I wanted to wait for my semester break so I could be home with him). I know it is a standard procedure but I am still a bit wary. Any tips for what to expect afterward? It has been a while (and I was just a kid) since my parent's two dogs (11 and 14 years old) were neutered and spayed, I don't remember how it was and neither had any teeth extracted. I just hope all goes well!! Wish my baby boy luck!

Well, I am studying here in Berlin and my family is in the states. I have been here for 2 years and for the foreseeable future plan to stay here at least to finish my bachelors, masters and student teaching (I want to teach English in the German school system). Thanks for calming some of my worries about Hepburn's upcoming surgery. He is my family here and it is hard to see him have to go through even a routine surgery, but I know it is for his own good.

He will be fine! And your Veterinarian should give you a discharge sheet full of information and instructions on how to take care of your puppy after surgery . At the Veterinary CLinic where i work, if teeth are pulled we make sure they are fed canned food just for a couple days until there mouth isnt painful. They will prob also send home some pain meds. Other than that just not too much exercise. Mainly leash walks, not too much jumping and such. I am sure everything will be just fine.

Hepburn has been out of surgery for about 2 hours and we are already home. He is a bit cranky and tired, but fine. He needed 9 teeth pulled, yes 9!! I got to see them and they had to stitch two up afterwards because they were so far in. The vet was amazing, I moved (within Berlin) about 3 months ago and this was only Hepburn's third time to this vet. He let me stay with Hepburn until he was asleep and they called before they woke him so I could be with him as he woke. I have to go in on Wednesday for a check up, but everything should be fine. Just thought I would update you all!

Thanks for the update, and glad to hear it went well, and he is doing good. By tomorrow, he will pretty much be acting like his old self. Just do what the Vet suggested and all will be fine!
