| I always say "if we don't buy them they won't breed them"...I stole it from a friend who runs a rescue actually...but the point is to never buy a dog or pup from a miller or Greeder because you condemn many more to that life by doing so...BUT reading your story I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing...'here's a couple hundred bucks just let me save that one'...you saved an older dog which more than likely was done producing worth while pups for them and well let's be honest here...would have been thrown out like garbage...WE NEED BETTER LAWS! So you and other people with a heart don't have to go about it this way...these people should merely need be exposed and that should be enough to have all their pups. dog and any animal taken from them and they should face criminal penalties for cruelty. The USDA's 6" from their nose kennel regulations, 1 hour minimum excise -if it applies in your state, "humane euthanasia" I could go on...the laws are less than pathetic nation wide and even more pathetic they are still broken...forcing the hand of corporate America seems to actually make the greatest difference, sad but true. About her being a groomer-the stray I just found on my block (turned out to be from a house at the end of the block-no one knew the dog had lived there for the last 6 years!) who was in need of basic medical care, was stray later and after us neighbors started talking was reported to the police as left unattended in the back yard... and she was stray again, another neighbor found her stray later, and the police were able to pick her up-she was taken to the pound...a rescue was able to go and claim her because the owner had too many stray reports against her and had been reported for leaving the dog in the yard without shelter and food for a couple days, anyways was going to face serious fines and a furthered investigation if she came to claim her...anyways the point is the owner is a veterinary technician at the local emergency vet! How sick are some people-they'd can't even use stupidity or ignorance as an excuse! |

you are soooooo right we do need better laws and my girls say the same thing if we don't buy them they won't breed them. It wouldn't have taken long for a miller to pick up that ad and toss her into a cage and breed her to death. This one was a special case where if she ended up in the wrong hands at 3.6lbs one more litter and she'd die. I was able to convince her to pull that ad and assure her I'd be taking her. I know a lot of people may not agree with how I did this and I have to say it was hard on me to not lose it on this lady. I just couldn't have lived with myself knowing this dog was tossed into another cage for the sake of the all mighty $$ I think reading stories years ago about people rescuing dogs from puppy mill auctions gave me courage. My mom is 80 years old and calls me daily and can't understand why this crazy lady is not locked up. Everyday she calls and asks how is her baby doing she just gets pains in heart how someone can have a dog for 4 years and just toss it out to the wolves like that. | |
