| Grrrrrrrrrrr stairs Well Jett jas fallen in love with our stairs. He can go up just fine, but then he will get in the middle and not be able to get down. I think he doesn't like the looks of the stairs when he looks down. We have showed him how to go down, and he does it pretty well actually.......but most times, he gets in the middle and cries until someone rescues him. I was going to put up the baby gate but...... I cannot find my baby gate anywhere......I think there must be a baby gate thief in our neighborhood. It was here a few weeks ago and poof it is GONE! I hate to buy another gate, because I Would think SOON Jett should be navigating the stairs without any issue. Once he gets the confidence that he really can do it. He loves going all the way upstairs and sleeping in my dirty clothes that are piled on my bathroom floor. LOL At least I always know where to find him.

| Thats too funny actually! Oliver is the SAME way!! I live in an apartment so I don't have any stairs but I take him to my Dad's almost everyday since he lives right by my work and he will run up the stairs fine but then cry because he can't get back down! We just use his ex-pen to gate off the stairs so my dad knows where he's at but funny how brave they are to run up the stairs then look down and say "uh oh mom!!"

| Walt used to be the same way... We didn't buy a baby gate, instead we used a laundry basket and it worked just fine! Some times you just have to be creative with house hold items Maybe that'll help |

| Be careful, I used to let Harley do all stairs on his own, until he tumbled down at christmas time, I really don't know how he fell or how he didn't hurt himself all I saw was a ball of fur rolling down the stairs. I felt like a terrible fur mom.

YT 1000 Club Member | Fortunately neither of mine have "rolled" down stairs. But, I'd think that reluctance to descent would be more apt to occur when there is a puppy, or a Dog moving into an environment, where it had not encountered stairs before. Both of mine took to the 'going up" REAL good, and would do a step at a time coming down (little hesitations on each step). But now !, it's one paw per step on the down, specially when there's a reason. (treats/call to go outside/an arrival of someone) There was a little training process though... Both would get "stuck" midway at times when they were young. We would move up toward them part way, leaving a few steps between us and one, and encourage it to descend on it's own just a few steps at a time. Then increase the distance slowly.
