| Carrier question In 10 minutes, it'll be 10 days before I go get our new Little Dude! (Can you tell I'm excited? ) Trying to get everything ready for the big arrival, and I'm spending WAY more time than I should researching grooming supplies, harnesses, doggie clothes, etc. I posted some questions re: carriers in the product review section, but I haven't been able to get any answers, so I'm hoping someone here can advise me... Of course there's no real way to determine how big the pup will be, Dam and Sire were 4-6 lbs. So I can assume eventual adult weight will be in that ballpark, but you never know. Is it smart to buy a purse-style dog carrier when Little Dude is still so small? Will it help him get used to be transported this way? I don't want to spend a fortune on a really nice bag only to have him outgrow it in a few months/yr. How did you bring your puppy to his/her 1st vet visit? Any recommendations on a carrier that's cute/functional/well-made/etc that has outside pockets for MY stuff? Selection in my town is pretty limited so I need to order something soon! Thanks! |

| yay!!!! congrats on your puppy!!! i'm picking up my new baby in 10 days as well!!!!!!! I think i would get a carrier that would fit about a 10lb dog. I am personally getting a soft but framed carrier with a strap so i can wear it as a bag as well. Also make sure if you do decide on a soft carrier you should purchase one that is framed so its not flimsy and slouch when the dog goes in :P With my first yorkie Mickey back 14.5 years ago, i brought him to the vet in my overall pouch. our vet was a walking distance. 4 blocks. i was 9 years old at the time and had this winnie the pooh overalls. I put mickey in the overall and had his head poke out as I walked to the vet with my nanny. With my new puppy since she will be up to date with all of her puppy shots, I will walk her to the vet. |

| Jennzy, What a cute visual! I'm sure you and your puppy were quite a sight back then! This puppy is for (in name at least) my daughters: 9,7, & 2- it will be a surprise for them. You will probably hear the shouts of joy from Texas wherever you live! What kind of carrier are you getting? We have a Sherpa bag that we use for our cat which I know could work, but I'd rather not freak out puppy and/or cat with each others scents if I don't have to. |

| I'd say a carrier is better than having him out and exposed to people...surprised you haven't been advised on the favs of ppl on here... My only carrier advice is start it early-be sure its safe i.e. vent screens, strong straps, plenty of room-not a dog purse please and ignore hot designer brands-trust me they aren't worth the label...several many hundred dollar later I'm using the cheapo my mom got from a big box pet store for like 29.99 its a Coach imitation better than the real thing!

In my earlier post on the products page I tried to show pics from Amazon of 2 Zack & Zoey models, but I'm not sure if the images work or not. (They work for me even though the whole stinkin' paragraph looks like it's the website??) I want something well ventilated for sure, and something safe. I wanted to stay in the $50 range or less- especially since I'm not sure how big he's going to get. Which pet store if you don't mind me asking? I figure I can always upgrade to a better design/model as the puppy gets older but I'd like something for now that can get us through at least the first year or so. |

| I think one of the biggest fan faves here is the Kwigy Bo line. I don't know about training a little one, and the bags aren't cheap. I trained my then 1 year old fairly quickly. The bag is stealthy, airline approved, and has space for all my things, and his. I'm sure you can find a nice cheap one on ebay to get the training started, and then eventually get a pricier one when your pup is full grown. How exciting for you! Wish I could add #2 to my group. Maybe next year?

| Jennzy, Cute bag! My husband would slowly die of embarrassment if I asked him to carry that, but it's perfect for a sweet little girl! In a household of all women, dh is greatly outnumbered, so all our pets are males. Although they're all neutered so I'm not sure if that counts! LOL! |

| Not sure...Petsomejunk most likely I don't really do big box...but I noticed the Kwigy Bo line was suggested- they're not really designer and apparently everyone really loves them here, but even a combo deal like this works 4 In 1 Pink Pet Dog Stroller/Carrier/House/Car Seat 7P again I'd wanna buy one in person rather than online but for $40 and a combo is handy to have around...when in doubt get the bigger...http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=dog....c0.m270.l1313 [quote=hotdiggetydog;3447831] Quote:
