Remy may have kennel cough!!

there are MANY strains of the kennel cough virus and only some are in each vaccine so it's very possible that she picked up one that the vaccine doen't cover from the vet. dogs in vets are usually sick and sometimes vets are not great about quarantine and making sure things are sterilized. i hope she gets well soon. if they gave a dex-clor she should get to feeling much better soon. it's been awhile but i think that's the name and it's a cough med.

she has had all her shots.. but I guess there is always one strain that isn't covered. Yes they gave her a shot with dex... big improvement. He gave her a antibiotic --no cough med. It has been almost 24 hours now and she seams a lot better...

Thank you all for the well wishes and the information. I was so upset because I felt she has gotten it at the vets!!!! But the cough showed up the day after her "visit" so it seams not.... I do walk her in our neighborhood and we go to play group. I have not seen sick dogs, and she has her shots... but it seams it may be something that just happens. I guess I rather it be a cough that I can have treated than my other fear Tracheal Collapse from the procedure!!!!

Now my next question.. now that she is better and I am calmer... my dh took her back to the vet for the cough and asked if her trach could have been damaged by incubating (is that the right term?) the vet (who has experience with yorkies and I have been going to for 12 years) said he does not incubate the tiny (Remy is 3.5 lbs)... does that make sense -- what do they do instead? I guess my vet is lucky my dh took Remy in.. not me?

I think you mean Intubate. I was wondering that as well.....

lol I guess that is why my husband looked at me like I was crazy when I asked??? I do not have a way with words.. so sad
