| My TX Yorkies need an energy drain! Yikes! Nothing turns a TX Yorkie frisky like a blast of Artic air. Guess its my fault though. My two are big (19lbs and 14lbs). They have become accustomed to a great deal of athletic exercise and tend to be happiest when tired from our twice-daily brisk walks/runs with leaping frisbee catches and ball chasing in the yard in the evening. We typically only have a couple days of genuine winter weather a year around here, but Its been soo cold lately that our daily walks have been reduced to a rushed walk up and down the street and our backyard romps are now non-exsistant.The combination of the cold and reduced exercise has given way to an excessive energy that results in them yipping, barking, and ripping thru the house and backyard like their hair just caught fire! I gotta tell ya its a delight to watch though and it makes me laugh hysterically. Thing is....I gotta find a way to calm them down. We've been playing fetch and tug-of-war inside the house this week but neither has served to drain the excessive energy. We've even been working on clicker training new tricks to occupy their minds but they are still WAY hyper. Any Ideas? What do you folks do during the winter to tame the terrier spirit when "Old Man Winter" has you on lockdown? |

| We're just north of Dallas...same story here. I love your description...it perfectly describes my male cavalier and his sprints round and round. He's now taught Zoe to do the same thing occasionally!

| We are in TX also. It is awefully cold!!!! Bear goes outside in the backyard for 30 seconds and comes back running. Took him for a short walk down the street yesterday, and a short play date with a friend's maltese today. That is all the activity he had for the last three days:::( |

| Of coarse we have the same problem here in Indiana. I've got Bella trained to walk on the treadmil. A good substitute. But we sure do anticipate beautiful warm weather. |
