Do i own the largest yorkie? I have two wonderful yorkies called Tilly and Elly. now Tilly is a small yorkie who weighs in about 3kg (6.6lbs) who is a lovely intelligent and playful yorkie. My other yorkie is playful not very intelligent but makes up for having a big heart and needs to have a big heart as my baby weighs in at 12.75kg (28.04lbs) which i believe could be the biggest i have heard of. last year before i took her to the vets and she weighed an astonishing 15kg (33lbs) but the vet informed me she had to lose a bit. i will post some pics soon but i am wondering if my Elly who just for comparisons weighs as much as a small Staffordshire bull terrier is the worlds largest yorkie. I have posted a couple of replies on previous posts but i decided to start my own. looking forward to hearing from all you yorkie lovers and let see if anyone has a bigger YORKZILLA than mine. hehe |
Holy moly! I thought my Jackson was a giant at 16lbs, lol, but he is not overweight and very skinny. 28lbs seems unheard of! I'd love to see pics of your 'teapot!' :) |

Definately on the larger side very much like Pooky who was 31lbs and healthy when we went to the vet a couple of months ago. We thought this was incredibly large but have discovered some yorkies have been recorded in excess of 35lbs. :animal36:thumbup::):) |
Would love to see pictures of your teapots. I never knew they could get as big as 35lbs. Must be mama and daddy were big Yorkies. All the more to love. |
Yorkie's use to be on the larger side , when they were trained to dig for small rodents. Now days a 28lb yorkie would be considered huge. The more to love ;) Cant wait to see pictures |
My 12 and 14 pound Yorkzillas together are smaller than your's. 28 lbs is a whole lotta trouble, let's hope he doesn't have ideas of world domination and for Pete's sake, keep him out of Tokyo! |

Is she a mix perhaps? Never heard of one that big. If you could have her DNA tested to prove she's all Yorkie, you should enter her in Guinness. ;) Hope you post picture of her for all of us with our mouths hanging open could see, and meet this precious soul. |

45 lb. Yorkie! I largest one I have ever saw in Person was 45 lbs. and that was at my Breeders House, He was AKC. Registered so I beleived that he was Full blooded Yorkie, he was about knee-high too, rather large! He also had Diabetes so I think that had alot to do with it? He did NOT live that long, she had to put him to sleep. |

I know, I read that in the breed history too. I was amazed to learn that the larger Yorkies were bred to to the Maltese to make them small and give them their silky hair. Maybe long ago the smaller Yorkies actually started as Morkies??? |

I have a soft spot for the bigger babies. I'd love to see pictures. Rhett is 12 pounds and I always hear that he must not be a true yorkie. I just tell everyone that he has to have a larger body to fit his larger personality. |

I like my 5 lbs only because we take him with us so much I wouldn't be able to do that with a 18 - 20 lbs dog. I would feel guilty leaving axel home all the time. But that is why I wanted a small boy! Does not mean I would love him any less. I had a 20 boston for 16 years. |

Sure, they are all Yorkie. Considering that the Yorkie was developed using other terriers that were all larger (Sky, Clydesdale, Waterside, Paisley), the genes are there and if you get the right sperm and egg together, you get a throwback to the larger size. After all, all the breeds go back to the wolf. Selective breeding gave us all the numerous, vastly different looking breeds that we have now. We didn't have to have a tiny wolf to get down to the size of the Chi, the Yorkie, the Maltese, and all of the very different toy sized dogs that are available today. |
