| HELP!!!! Need advice on my female yorkie? Hello to all..... Maggie just turned a year old on Jan. 4 2011.... I noticed she has become very cranky and moody lately always crying and whinning for me to pick her up constantly..... I also noticed that she has gotten her period and her vajayjay lips are very swollen.... is this normal? and will they go back down in size? how long does this period or heat cycle last? I have a male yorkie who is neutered so I dont have any idea about what to expect with her..... Is it to late to spay her? Help need advice please....

I also noticed that she has gotten her period and her vajayjay lips are very swollen.... is this normal? Yes this is normal and will they go back down in size? Yes. how long does this period or heat cycle last? about 3 weeks, but not let her meet un-neutered males until its bee 4-5 weeks, I prefer to watch the bitch up to her 6 week, just to be safe I have a male yorkie who is neutered so I dont have any idea about what to expect with her..... Is it to late to spay her? No, its not too late, just wait until she's done in heat My answers are colored red Thumbs up for that you are going to spay her!

| My vet told me that female dogs only have the fluctuations in hormones around the time of their heat. If this is when her moodiness started, spaying her should help. You are doing the right thing getting her spayed as soon as her heat cycle is over.

| You can spay her while shes in heat. Vets usually charge just a little more if a pet is in heat. I had my cat spayed when she was in heat
