Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Laser / spay I am taking Bri for her exam and pre op blood work for her spay. The vet offers laser, any opinions on laser? I remember reading a thread on questions to ask regarding the spay. anesthesia etc.. I can't find it. Does anyone know where it is located?

| Here is the thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-protocol.html One of my girls had the laser spay. The wound healing time was quicker than the other girls regular spays and you can't even see where the incision was on her tummy like the others. But I can't say the recovery from laser spay for my girl was any easier. They all handle it differently. ps, I would make sure your vet has had experience (done a lot of them) with laser spays

| My westie had the laser spay done. She was her normal self as soon as she came home. The incision was tiny, tiny, tiny. I would not have the traditional spay again. I much preferred the laser spay. |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I've never heard of a laser spay, I'm going to do more research on this. I'm still on the fence about spaying Poppy.. I want to spay her but I'm so scared about it. Is this a safer option then the traditional spay?

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I know what you mean about being scared. I want this done and over with, I have just been waiting to see if she gained a little weight. From what I know so far the incision is much smaller, less blood loss and quicker healing time. all sounds good right? I will be speaking to the Dr on Tuesday to find out more info.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | With my vet there is an extra charge for the laser but will be worth it if it makes it easier on her . Now I can hardly wait for Tuesday to get more info. My next hurdle is the thought of leaving her over night. I am having it done at a 24/7 hospital so there will be someone monitoring her over night. I wish I could stay with her.

| Sophie Kate has a laser spay also, I can't compare it to any other since she is my first dog as an adult. I can tell you that the wound healed very fast, she does not have scar and her recovery time seemed very fast. I also was afraid of getting her spayed and decided on the laser along with my Vet. Good luck to you and your baby girl.

| We chose laser for spaying Princess and neutering or Pom, "Ty". It was much more expensive, but anything to make this surgery for both pups, "easier" on them, for healing, etc. The day after I brought Princess home from her spay surgery, we had a sudden call that my Grandmother passed away. So, our vet recommended taking Princess with me, instead of boarding her at the vet. Princess took her very first long trip with us and was so happy to be with me. I just made sure she did not get too excited or anything. I enjoyed spoiling and pampering Princess as she recovered from her surgery. It took 3 weeks to heal from Princess's spay surgery, before taking out stitches. Our Pom, the stitches were dissolvable and were gone within 2 weeks. He healed ALOT quicker and easier than Princess. |

| I wish we had this option. I would go for it. It sounds like Brielle will be getting spayed soon, do you have a date set? Calvin will be neutered Jan 11th. We have to leave him overnight the night before, so I can relate to the freaking out part |
