I. Had something like this happen to me when I was looking for a horse. And I remember reading about the tea cup yorkie scams. Ppl are just so....I have no words for this...promising a loving puppy just to rip someone off...it is sick! I saved forever to be able to buy my Amirah and provide her with everything she needs and emergency funding...it is just sick how others will pray on people!!!

Megansmomma...I know this is a few years old but I just saw it and I just wanted to tell you how much I love this! Go you! :D I've dealt with some of these scammers too (thank goodness, I never gave them any money) and quickly learned to tell which ones were scammers and which ones weren't. I so wish I had thought of doing something like this to mess with their heads. That was awesome!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks! It was so much fun at the time and now it's just a good laugh. You should come and play trivia. I bumped this up because I'm using it for Trivia questions. :)

We had a similar experience when I was searching for Crystal. Advertised in London, with the same pic and varying descriptions etc. I couldn't pick up, "but someone would deliver once Western Union confirmed transfer" etc etc.

Then a wretched harridan of a woman in an evil filthy ramshackle bungalow on the Fens with a poor little girl locked in a revolting little chicken cage, so weak she couldn't run! She locked herself to my lap quivering until we left. I reported both to our PDSA (charity) who God bless them rescued 14 dogs including the sad little lady we'd encountered from this hell house. By then we had Crystal, but I sponsored her and she was happily re-homed two months after rescue. Advertised as a year old, she was in fact 5 and had been used as a breeding machine for a few years. I correspond with her new owner on and off and after 6 months or so of readjustment she's now very happy with a retired couple like us.:)

Yes, I have heard of what you described happening to at least one YT member. The "owner" posted on Craigslist saying the needed to rehome their beautiful 5 year of yorkie along with a picture of the little girl. She has long hair, beautiful coat and looked very healthy. They went to pick her up and she was at least 10+ yrs old, rotting teeth and horrid hair. But they felt so bad they brought her home anyway and nursed her back to health. That was many years ago and she has since gone to the bridge. But she had a very good life after going to her new home. There are scammers everywhere just waiting to take your money.

I remember this one well. It should be nominated for the YT hall of fame!

If only more people were aware of the many kinds of scams there are concerning purebred dogs both outside this country and within!

This is a scam...when I was looking for my Yorkie I received lots of emails with almost the exact wording.
