| Are there any buttons or holes on your side of the doorknob? New age interior door handles have a little screw type button near the handle. All you have to do is use a small screwdriver and push/turn the little screw/button. If you don't have this, another way is to use a credit card (preferably an old one that you can risk damaging), and attempt to slide it between the door and the frame. Personally, I use a laminated card. The goal is to get the card to slip enough to get in contact w/ the door pin. YOu want to push the door pin so that it recedes back into the door itself. You will probably have to wiggle the door back and forth to hopefully free up some room to slide the card through. This method may or may not work depending on the amount of clearance your door has to the frame. After this whole ordeal, change the door knob so that you have a way to open the doorknob from the outside in case of situations like this. Home Depot will have door knobs for you. | I would tell you to taken apart the door knob, but I don't know how mechanically inclined you are w/ taking things apart. I don't want to give you the wrong advice and make things worse. My advise though...in case of SEVERE emergency...Go medieval on that door/doorknob. Great for stress relief! Use a bat, a hammer, an axe, etc. |
