| how to make a car seat out of a milk crate these are the instructions for the milk crate car seat as written by my 16 year old sister. I posted the pictures on my profile because i could not include them in this post (just got to big) Step 1: find a milk crate that will hold your dog they sell them at walmart and most craft stores. Don't forget to look around the house Step two: Clean it off even if you buy it at the store there have still been who knows how many people touching it so just grab a disinfectant and some paper towels and wipe it down Step three: measure the sides the one I made is 10 ½ inches long by 12 inches wide Don't forget the bottom! Mine is 12 inches by 13 inches so my car seat is not a perfect square. *this size holds my sisters 6 pound yorkie and my moms 14 pound pug. Step four: you need something for a cushion I used some old couch cushions and cut them to about ½ inch thick. (a razor blade or a sharp knife works well at cutting the cushions) *you will need 5 cushions one for each side and one for the bottom, you may want the bottom cushion a bit thicker. Step five: cover the cushions I used one color for the bottom and one for the sides *I used about 2.5 feet for the bottom and 12 feet for all 4 sides Step six: decide weather or not you want you cushions completely closed or not I decided not because my sister said our washer was to small to put pieces of foam in so if the dog got sick or had an accident we needed to be able to remove the cover. When you made up your mind sew the covers together Step 6.5 you need to attach the cushions to the carseat you can run sticky velcro all across the top of the carseat or you can do like I did and sew some ribbon on and tie it in place. Step seven: okay hear is the tricky part you may need to drill some holes into your milk crate for a way to attach the cushions to the box I just used my step dads drill and put two small holes in each corner I had to do this because I chose to have tie in cushions if you don't have a drill or are not so steady with the power tools you can just use some Velcro all round the top and bottom. Step eight: you need something to attach to your dog or the whole thing is pointless I used a old leach that a broke being silly. I just tied it in a nice tight knot. Our dog dose not move around in the car so it was okay. If you have a really rowdy dog and you think it will not hold the stitch it in or stitch the knot Step nine: at this point you should be good to put the whole thing together. * please ask your parent/guardian about using things that they have to make this project and about using power tools my sister says that if she gets even one call home about this she is sending me to the orphanage and I kinda like my room and stuff so yeah ask.

| ye you can if you look at the pic of him standing up in the seat you can see it pulled through the handles of the crate it works great with lap belts but is still very stable with the shoulder/lap belt
