Just heartbreaking. I am so very sorry.

I know many people allow their dogs to ride in vehicles untethered or not in secured crates...unfortunately it's a tragedy waiting to happen.

Very sad. I have a 1 year old that is just 5lbs and i have him in a PET FLYS purse thing (I call it his basket) that is very very sturdy while i drive. He loves it. Once i had to come to a quick stop on the freeway and it rolled off the seat to the floor. He was a little shaken but fine. Now i actually seat belt the "basket" to the seat! Desi would probably be ok if he was in one of those.

My dad was an accident investigator for many years. I remember him discussing a case where a person had an untethered dog in the front seat. The dog jumped down and wedged himself between the pedals. There was an accident as a result and the dog, the driver and a passenger in another car were all killed. Very sad.
