Senior Yorkie Talker | Top Knot I read recently in a post that you really should take the top knot out every day. Is this true? To put a top knot in is a battle in itself, but I want to do what is best for her. I also wonder about those pictures I see where the dog has several colored bands holding the beard down and such. Do they also take them out every night? Sooo much to learn and I tend to be bow challenged! Celine is almost a year, can you believe it!!!!!! My how time flys.

| I don't take my two's bows out every night, but I also don't do their top knots very tight. They usually fall out after a couple days and then I give them a break over night. Khloe absolutely hates having her hair down and rubs her face everywhere, but Couver doesn't seem to mind it. I guess it all comes down to what you think. If you think she needs a break or her hair looks damaged, it's probably best to trim it or leave it down for a bit.

| I do try to take the topknots out each day because I am afraid that the hair will get tangled up. But there are lots of times that Maggie has gone to bed with the band in her hair. I usually cut it out with a pair of band scissors that I got from Toplinepet.com. Jenny is a fellow YT'er. Her name is mimimomo. She has lots of bows and other products as well.

| My two sleep in their topknot but I make sure that I take it out every day, brush their hair and put it back in. When I've gotten into trouble it's been when I've been lazy and just left one in overnight without brushing their hair. |

| I have heard stories where a rescue pup was kept in a topknot 24/7 by her former owners. She had bald spots because of the serious matting. I'm still new to the topknot world so I'm not 100% sure about this topic.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Every day the topknot needs to be taken out, brushed out and redone. Use a good grooming spray. Moustaches rebanded daily. Carefull with barrettes, bows, leaving on overnight, if they do come out for 1) they are a tempting chew "toy".

YT 1000 Club Member | I take Natalie's out every night (she also rubs her head all over the bed when i take it out) and put it up every morning. I don't put it up tight but she has gotten to where she don't mind having one in. Now just putting a bow in is another story. It comes out in about 5 minutes if I just put a bow in. If it put it in with a topknot, she don't bother it.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you everyone for your replies. Sounds like it needs to be done everyday. That does make sense. I have a routine and I will just have to add this to it. Thanks again!!
