| ![]() Well I have a completely opposite view than a lot of posts on here. I just took Harley's tags off his Harness, he's scared of them. That and I've never been asked to produce them. In Halifax there is a $300 fine for not having a licensed dog. So I just carry them with me. My breeder and I had a huge talk on this a while back, cause my dog is microchipped. At the end of the day, all my info and I think the breeder's info is in there. I don't understand why they have to wear the tags they are so big, and noisy. I carry them in my purse/pocket in case I'm asked to provide them. I've heard horror stories of tags getting caught on their neck and cutting them. Our babies are so fragile, I don't believe in having a collar on at all unless for pictures and decorative purposes. He has a harness for walking and going out. Oh and as for decorative charms, I'd love one that is small enough that wont weigh Harley down... lol I tried to buy one but it's still really big.

| ![]() Gatsby has 5 last years county tag, this years county tag, rabies, AKC car, and an Id tag with his name and my phone number. I did have them all on his collar but his hair grew out and his collar got too small so i transferred them all to his harness until i can get him a slightly bigger one i have never had problems with his collar getting caught or anything else so i dont worry about it

No Longer a Member | ![]() Even with break-away collars, they can still get caught in a fence and wind up strangled, you've seen the bottoms of a chain link fence, when they go under there is just too much of a possibility that they'd get caught. jmo, but a collar isn't a very good idea at all, I recommend only having the collar on during supervised times, and have their tags on their harness that they wear when you're walking them or at the park, etc. |

| ![]() Ziva wears her "necklace" (collar) with a 2-sided lightweight aluminum ID tag and a bell all the time. We are waiting for our silk one from Chattiesmom ![]() Her countytag/rabies tag(all in one in this county) is on her harness when she goes out. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() Mine wear their ID tags on a well fitting collar. I keep the rabies tags on their leashes just because they are bigger and the ring for them tends to snag on carpets. Their ID tag has their names, my phone # and the vets #.

| ![]() Not that long ago, my husband opened the back door to do something on the porch. Chance slipped out the door and my husband didn't see him. He then went to lay down to take a nap, I was napping also. I don't know how much time had passed, when I got a knock on the door. I look out to see a man I have never seen before holding my Chance. Well I about had a heart attack. He said does this little guy belong to you, I found him wondering around down the road? All I could do was say oh my god yes, and thank you over and over again. It was awful! I am extremely lucky that he was returned to me, and returned unharmed!! I had his collar on with the rabies tag only. He had called my vet to find out where he lived and returned him to me. We are always very careful, with our babies, but things can still happen no matter how careful you are! They will never be without a collar and tag on them!

| ![]() I registered Troy when he was vaccinated for Rabies. I was able to order a tag that has his rabies info, microchip and my contact info on one tag. I do have an official rabies tag the county gives but I keep that secured in our files. I have Troy's collar and Tag on at all times. |

| ![]() Jackson wears a collar nearly 24/7 (except for baths and sometimes at night I take them off just because it seems more comfy). But I don't keep his rabies tag on it -- just an ID tag with his name and my phone number. He is also microchipped. The rabies tag is too ugly and huge so I don't want it on him, lol. I keep it on my keychain. I don't think we have licensed tags and stuff here. Never even heard of having to license my dog from anybody. I also keep a tag on his harness for back-up. He got out of his harness once, so if his tags were ONLY on his harness... well, they would be pointless. So I was glad he had his collar on as well.

| ![]() All three of mine have worn an ID tag since they were puppies. They are in their collars/tag at all times. They are removed for combing and bathing. The ID tag has an 800 number which links to my veterinarian as well as all of my numbers so that if called, they can access records on vaccines. As for the actual rabies tag - it is too big for them so it is on their harnesses for walks only along with a 2nd ID tag. I've never had problems with tags or collars. I use a small 3/8" nylon collar on Barney, a 1/4" leather collar on Teddy, and a 3/8" cloth collar on Daisy -- all of the collars are very lightweight.
