| Airlines Does anyone happen to know who is the cheapest airline to take pets on? I'm going home to Cali for Christmas and I want to actually take my puppy on the plane with me. I absolutely will not put her in cargo. I'm a college student so on the broker side of things, lol, so I'm looking for the cheapest flight for me and Stormy. Thanks! |

| I actually just googled this earlier tonight and it seems like it's pretty even across the board. All major airlines charge $75-80 one way if the dog is small enough to be a carry-on. Double check though, I'm not sure how current the info was. |

| Try Southwest or JetBlue. Their pet fees are a little lower (but still high), and your checked bag is free. In my head, that helps even it out.

| Southwest is great. It only $75 + they do not require a health certificate from the vet.

| I just flew Southwest about a month ago when my Yorkie finished his AKC Championship and it was $75.00 for him to fly with me home. I got a Health Cert but they never asked for it.. He did great... |

| Southwest has the lowest pet fares. As well as if you do the math the cheapest fares.....no extra for luggage. They don't require health certificates and you can pay for your pet curb side. There are only a couple of Airlines that still require Health Certificates; it's really dependent on the laws of your destination city. The one problem with flying Southwest is if you're flying cross country or any distance.....you have a minimum of 1 layover and sometimes 2 with a possibility of plane change. Therefore you're extending your traveling time, hard on the dog. In other words a flight from Dallas to L.A is about 2 hours.....flying Southwest it's 5.

| Airline I agree, Southwest is the best for fares, and last Christmas we flew from Denver to San Francisco and the flight attendants were all dog lovers and let Bently out of his bag and he sat on my lap the entire flight. They kept coming back to our seat and seeing if Bently needed anything. I tried to get them to believe he likes champagne but it didn't work...... |

| Southwest is BEST! We fly at least twice a year between Phoenix and Buffalo, NY. It's a 4 1/2 hour flight and Bella does awesome! We fly on Southwest. $75.00 each way and no luggage fee. It's worth it to know she is safe with us in the cabin. They have always been very welcoming. Just remember that you have to call ahead and register your dog for your flight as they limit the number of pets allowed on board. Good luck! |

| Does Southwest usually allow pets to sit on your lap? Bc this is how I envisioned the flight, but one of my friends said they have to stay in their carrier and under the seat. I don't want to do that to her. My family is going to think I'm crazy, but I'd rather stay than put her through that! |

| Southwest Southwest is great!!! My mom had no problems at all with bringing our puppy home. The fee was only $75 and they charge one-way (so if you have to switch plans to go one-way they don't charge you again, I know some airlines do that). The staff was excellent and she had a great experience. I highly recommend Southwest if you're going to fly with a pup in cabin! |

| Delta is $125. each way and the dog must stay in the carrier under the seat. I have had some who let me hold him and one even walked around the plane with him showing him to people. If you have a Delta American Express card you don't have to pay for one bag each but you have to request it.

| Air tran is only 69$ each way. I've found they are the cheapest out there. Second would be Southwest at 75$. You must keep your little one under the seat. Doesnt really bother me too much cause as soon as i put Pasquale under there...he goes right to sleep!

| I just booked us a roundtrip flight to Myrtle Beach, SC from Buffalo, NY through Spirit Airlines. They had this outragous special going on because they were a new airline in Buffalo and I booked 4 roundtrip tickets for us for $250 total!! I also reserved for Bella, it was $100 each way for her. It will be $200 for her and $250 for all 4 of us! I'm also hoping that they will let me hold her and not just leave her under my seat. She will sit in a bag good when I'm carrying her but I'm not sure how she will be fully contained in a bag under my seat...I'm really afraid she will be a bit difficult and whiny or bark I'm thinking I'm gonna try to acclimate her to it gradually before our trip just in case.
