| Wow I cant believe this I picked up our local classifieds today and there was an ad for 8 wk old yorkies with first shots and wormings for $200 can you believe it? I cant get one because Im topped out with animals but what a deal. I know the economy is bad but it must be bad for these breeders also to sell at that price. I bought Chachi 6 yrs ago for $600 and that was a low price then. Anyone want a $200 yorkie? I can forward the number to you

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Thats a great price, just a shame that they are selling them so young. But they will go quickly because they are so cheap, I hope they go to loving homes. Hopefully someone here at YT can give one of them a home.

| No telling what someone might be getting into with puppies at that price and being sold at such a young age.

| Yes they are selling them young and Im not saying this is an ideal breeder most likely a byb but yorkie pups for $200 is just unheard of

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've been predicting this for some time, and it's not good news. A bad economy is not good for any breed. Good breeders cut back and byb's come out of the wood-work. Your thread is is important because maybe we can let some of these pet owners and byb's that breeding is not the money maker they think it will be.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | $200 means no testing, probably no registration and definitely a BYB. It could also be a scam- we have variations on that ad show up in the AJC.com and they are inevitably the "send money to cover shipping from over seas..." scams.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It may have been a "whoops" pregnancy and who knows how healthy the dogs are? Seriously, a inexpensive dog can end costing you a fortune, and not just monetarily either, the emotional involvement is devastating. I don't know if someone has to go through this before the truly understand, but unless I was getting a rescue, there is no way I'd support a bad breeder.

And I also know that there is no way you would say this was an ideal breeder. What I meant was that at that price they wont be around for long, so I think its better that a good owner from YT gets them rather then someone who will buy them just to breed them. I know most members here wouldnt go for them as it sounds like a BYB but it would be a better option. But I agree this may show new breeders that there isnt much money in it at the moment.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | The thing of it is, many people are the same type of breeder, they just charge more so that people think it's a better dog. I throughly believe that there's no difference in dogs, the difference is in breeders!

| It could be a scam. Anyone interested in buying any dog should go to the breeders home and make sure there are puppies because I have even heard of a breeder situation where the cost of the pup was a couple of thousand and it ended up being a scam so its not just low prices that are always a scam. It could be for real though because the economy is that bad in our state

| No matter how cheap or even how healthy, I would not give my money to that kind of a breeder. It's not saving the pups, it's enabling the byb.
