Just when you think your done

adding to your four legged family..this happens...
I will try and make this short as possible

My neighbors have a dog that they keep outside at all times..Ive mentioned them on here before. (it looks like a over grown tri colored beagle, a coon hound maybe?) she is a sweetheart that is very unloved.. he wanted the dog, she didnt.
She is about 4 or 5 years old and has been not taken care of at all. She has never been to the vets, has fleas, worms (she has pooed in my yard before) and hasnt been fixed.. and has always been underwieght, she is only fed pretty much when the feel the need. She barks all the time and instead of giving her the attention and food she needs, they bought her a shock collar. She barks at the burn barrel because she knows that is where they burn thier garbage. She gets loose all the time, gets in our garbage and has at one time attack and killed one of our rabbits. (needless to say no more rabbits outside). I dont blame the dog, she is just hungry. :(
About 3 weeks ago, they got a new puppy.. a s**tzu... at that time I was told by their boys that because they spent all of thier money on the new puppy that they didnt have any food for the outside dog..:eek::thumbdown so I gave them some. They have told me numerous times they dont want the dog (outside) anymore so they are gonna try and "sell" her.
Today she had been barking and whining all day (we live just yards from where she is kept) so I wandered out to her with a handful of dog bisquits to give to her and what I saw brought me to tears. :( She is tethered to her dog house with what appears to be a bungee cord, its a only a few feet long if that, she can barely lay down, she is sitting and eating where she poo's. She is shockingly skinny.. I knew she was thin, but up close, I couldnt beleive she could even stand. I could see her spine, her hip bones and count her ribs. She was loving all the attention she was getting. :( I took some pics with the camera on my phone and sent them to my hubby as well as called him, he is not one who eagerly welcomes new animals but he was appalled and said that he would go over and talk to them tonight about us taking her. I dont think they are gonna say no..I have attached some pics.
I will update again tonight.. if we will be welcoming her into our family, if they do say no, I will be calling the police, I will not allow her to continue to suffer.. they probably wont do anything about it,like before but its always worth a shot..its better than doing nothing at all..

I could only get one to post and it doesnt show much..sorry..I will try again later

That poor, poor little girl!! Thank God you're trying to help her. I'll be saying prayers that they turn her over to you tonight. If they don't, please do whatever it takes to get her out of there ASAP - she can't exist like that much longer. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help...bless you!

Tabbysmother 11-09-2010 01:27 PM

OMG that's horrible. I hope you get her.

Oh gosh. Just look at her ribs!! I know what I'd like to do to those people....but it's not considered humane!

sunshinnes 11-09-2010 01:30 PM

OMG:mad::mad::mad: the owners need to be tied to the dog house!!! I hope you can get her and give her love that she needs so so much!!!!
Kudos to you!!!!!!!

TLC 11-09-2010 01:38 PM

You need to convince them to give her to you. She is starving....

OR you need to report them to animal control.

This is heartbreaking :(

ladyjane 11-09-2010 01:39 PM

I hate people more and more every day. I know that some fool will copy that line and say how awful I am, but I simply don't give a **** anymore what some of the people say.
I will say a prayer that they turn that poor baby over to you. If they don't, you need to do whatEVER it takes to get her away from that hell hole.

megansmomma 11-09-2010 01:46 PM

Keep us posted regarding what happens when your husband goes over to talk to them. That is just disgusting and beyond words. Once again~not one but too "breeders" not giving a cr@p what happens to their dogs after they have a pocket full of money! Make me sick!

TwoforFun 11-09-2010 01:50 PM

I hope they surrender her without a fight. She is so pretty even with her ribs showing. Good Luck!!

FlDebra 11-09-2010 02:21 PM

So sad -- your pic shows enough -- all those belts around her neck, and then a bungee cord to the house. Poor thing. I cannot stand people doing this to animals. What can they possibly be thinking? Dogs want ony to love and be loyal and to have them treated this way is just disgusting.

I sure hope you get her tonight. I can imagine it will be a quick turn around once she gets some daily food and love.

joann1166 11-09-2010 02:29 PM

Please keep us updated! That is just horrible. I can't believe people do that to their animals...they are the ones that need to be starved and see how it feels. I so hope they give her to you.

hugz4all4 11-09-2010 03:04 PM

Update!!

Thanks everyone for your support!! She is ours!! It went very smoothly and they really didnt hesitate to say yes. It was literally a 10 minute converstation and they are glad to see her gone. She even told me thanks for taking her. Anyways, I wont be getting her untill tomorrow. I gave her some fresh food, water and loving this afternoon. I will go back out in the a.m and take her. My husband and I have agreed that because of us already owing so many animals that we are going to just foster her, get her healthy and happy and see if we can find her a new loving home that will take her hunting! :) It will be months before that happends though.
I will keep you all updated on her progress...

JenniferLeigh 11-09-2010 03:07 PM

I'm so glad that there are people like you in this world!

They have been reported before a few years ago and nothing was done. Apparently they knew someone in the business..

mkbartz 11-09-2010 03:35 PM

Wow! That is so sad!

Thank goodness for your kindness! I would hate the idea of her having to spend another winter outside!!!

Will you please post on how everything goes at the vet?

You have a lot of good Karma coming your way!

Sammy Mommy 11-09-2010 03:41 PM

OH.MY.freakin'.EVERYTHING.

When I started reading this thread, my heart started racing and tears are in my eyes right now. I'm at work, and I thought I was going to explode - I was so mad and upset!!!

And then, you're WONDERFUL update. You are an angel! Tell your husband he too has such a great heart! She is absolutely beautiful, and has some of the most soulful eyes. You have given this special girl something she clearly has never had - tender loving care.

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to move this thread to the General area. It's so important for people to really see what some humans do to animals - and, what a difference ONE person can make.

This is why rescues like Yorkie Haven Rescue, and other rescues, are so vital - and their work so meaningful. They see this kind of treatment, and WORSE. And, this is how an individual 'rescue', like you did Hugz4all4, can inspire others to help innocent fur kiddos.

You're awesome! Please give this little girl lots of hugs for us!

stanziog 11-10-2010 07:52 AM

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND and I mean this with all my heart. You are two wonderful people. We have two Bassets and they are the most lovable dogs in the world. They are both house dogs and we have a very big back yard for them, my yorkie and my shorkie. All they want is to be loved. When I saw the photo my heart broke. I thought about our two basset girls and how loved they are and I just can't imagine anybody treating an animal that way. You and your husband are the best.

kdhawks 11-10-2010 08:26 AM

Just look at her little face. I seriously just don't understand how people can be so mean and neglectful to animals. And it appalls me that they got another dog. Wonder what will happen when the novelty wears off the shih tzu. :(

I am so glad that you are going to foster this sweet girl. Please keep us updated on her progress!

anniez69 11-10-2010 08:38 AM

And they got ANOTHER dog ? That is infuriating. I hope they let you take her. I agree with calling the police or animal control. I wouldnt care if neighbors like THAT didn't like me for calling. Good luck !

No I dont mind at all..:).. I thought it was deleted..lol because I couldnt find. She is truly nothing but skin and bones. I went over again this morning to feed her, give her fresh water and some loving and she layed her head right into my legs as if to say thank you. I started crying again because I really dont know how anyone can treat an animal this way. I have made a appt. for the vets for friday, I explained to them what was going on, I was told in the mean time just to continue to feed her in small amounts and if she shows any signs of illness to call right away. I did find out for sure that she isnt fixed and did have some puppy shots right before they got her, but Im sure she is well over due. The vets did state that if she is truly as emanciated as I said she was that they wouldnt give her any vaccines at all untill she was at a healthy wieght. I looked up her breed and she is a "treeing walker" which is a type of coon hound and she should wiegh between 50 and 70 pounds (depends on what website) and my estimated guess that she wieghs between 20 and 30 pounds if that. When you pet her, you dont feel hair, you feel bones. :( I texted the nieghbor to let her know that I planned on coming over soon to get her and she told me that I couldnt untill she got home at 430.:mad::thumbdown. So I dont have her at this moment, but I have been over there several times checking on her, petting her.. making sure she knows that it wont be long and she will be in a warm, safe, loving, home.
I really appreciate everyone's support with this. I will keep you all updated as much as I can on her progress.
Oh and her name is Rosie..:)

The cops have been called before on them and nothing was done. Animal control will not come out unless its warranted by the cops.
