| Could my Lulu be pregnant? Hello All, I spent all night into the morning researching symptoms of pregnancy. Lulu is 8 months old. She weighs 10 pounds. I adopted her from a family last month when she was 7 months old. The family also had a small male puppy that they adopted out before I adopted Lulu. All of the symptoms that the internet provides about pregnancy is good yet vague. According to Lulu's previous parents she hasn't had a period. Her vagina seems swollen to me but I'm not completely sure if that is it's normal size or not. She is licking down there. Her nipples are out, in which there are maybe 7 or 8 but they aren't red or look sore. They are the same color as her belly but as stated they are erect. She seems to be urinating a lot more and sleeping lol. I thought she may be sleeping because she is bored or just tired. She has been attached since day 1 of me getting her. She tore my blinds up from looking out of the window when I walk outside. She has gotten better with that. Any helpful advice is appreciated. Lulu is my first yorkie as well as my first time ever experiencing this. I could be paranoid but it just seems like her stomach is fat. Could she be pregnant or are these symptoms more related to possibly having her first heat? My boy dog (not a yorkie) doesn't seem interested (he is neutored anyway). I don't feel like I need to keep them away from each other so that there is no accidental litter because they don't seem to be interested. They act like brother and sister. Please Help. i am willing to answer any questions you may have. Thank You Sheka |

| The best way to tell if she is pregnant is to take her to the vet. Have you made an appointment for her? Holly acted the same way right before she went into heat at 9 months. It could be her body is getting ready. Her nipples were hard and big too, and she hid in her crate a lot and slept most of the time. She was like this the week before is happened, and the following 3 weeks she was in heat. Of course it had to happen a few days before her scheduled spay, so we had to reschedule!

| If you are unsure if she is carrying a litter, then get her into the vet. If you think there is even a chance that she is, then you need to have an emergency spay ASAP to eliminate the risks it would present. |

| I've never had experience with a pregnant dog, but Opi went into heat at 9 months right before her scheduled surgery and she had pretty much the same symptoms that Lulu has and then some! I would definitely have her checked at the vet. good luck!

| I would say she is going into heat but I would check with the vet just to be sure. Holly did the same when she went into heat at 8 months.

| vet vet vet. best route when you just don't quite know the answers. if she is pregnant be in for a long ride and use the vet as a great resource to help. if she isn't it's probably just a heat cycle and i would defin. get her spayed right away. |

My first thought was she is getting ready to go into heat. I would get her to the vet and schedule her spay. It is *much* nicer not having to worry about all that goes with dogs in heat, more importantly it is much healthier for her. | |
