Do you guys tip your groomer? and another question.

The only thing I would question is the shaving of the nose. I understand that once it is done you have to keep doing it.

That's what the groomer did for my pup's first cut (she didn't ask by the way, so I had no way of knowing). I do notice that it needs to be done regularly or it grows into her eyes and looks funny. So you might want to think about that.

Just a suggestion, I do like how neat it looks when it's shaved though.

Otherwise, sounds good. Oh and I would tip also, just like a hairdresser.

Yes I tip. The girl that groomed Zach was great even though she looked like she was 12 years old. I gave her $10 because anybody who can hold Zach down deserves a large tip.

I tip $5.00 for each pup. I take all 5 of mine and I bathe them myself so I only have to pay $25.00 instead of $50.00. per dog. That is what I did today.I get there ears tipped and the nose part they shave around the eyes to give them a cleaner look. They look so cute when they are done.

I tip Daisy's groomer and I tip her very well. Not only does she do a great job but she will do her right away and call me so I can come and get her so she doesn't have to go in a crate.

hmmm, I hope I haven't been ticking off my groomer all this time, she is very good. I do not tip her. She owns the shop so I figure she would charge what she wants. I tip my hairdresser very well because she does not own the shop and doesn't get to set her price. I have been wrong?

Also, she does a great job, but doesn't shave the yorkie's noses. She does shave the maltipoo's nose.

Cripes...now I'm confused.

I tip our groomer. She comes to our house, and sets up her table in the kitchen. Chase is not crazy about getting groomed, so he does not behave. She goes slow with him, and really puts up with alot just to try and make him as stress-free as possible. She has been here 4 hours at times, just for him. She only charges $25 and I used to give her $40. Now with 2, I have only been able to give her $60, but at least Calvin behaves for her. She is so patient with them, and I totally trust her.

I tip based on how much they need to do. One of mine got matted, so I pre-tipped the gal who does shampoo and comb-out so she would gently take care of the matted hair. She deserved it for the extra work and it was a little extra incentive to be gentle. Usually they don't have that so I just tip the lady who cuts their hair. I've tipped extra when I wanted something extra, like cutting down from floor-length hair. Takes more time, I'll give them extra. Once, they looked especially great and I was just overwhelmed when I saw them, so I tipped extra then for a better than usual job. So, it is not the same each visit. They seem surprised each time I tip, and to tell the truth, I never tipped before reading it in a post on YT a few years back. Maybe I'm the only one doing it in this small town? IDK? But it made sense when I read it and I have been doing it ever since.

That is awesome. I had to check around to find a groomer that I liked but we finally found one. I tip her happily because she does well with my puppies and she goes the extra mile if they act nervous. She does not rush through it.

But mine only go there every once in awhile. The maintenance stuff I do in between. Baths, nails, things like that.

I always tip for service, plus If it's good service u need to keep them happy, so they go that extra mile for your baby.

You know Nana, I have been giving a lot of thought into what you wrote about shop owner vs. non-owner. That makes perfect sense to me! Maybe a Christmas tip, but real sound thinking there.

One of the ways that we try to "help" out the owner is by never using a credit, check, or debit card. We generally write a check. The reason is so that the shop owner doesn't have to pay the processing and transaction fee. Those can run between 1-3%.

I had a new lady groom the babies the last time! She did a great job! She cut their nails, expressed their glands, bathed and clipped and she only charged me 60.00 for both girls. I gave her a 10.00 tip! I am so happy to have found her! The name of her business is "The Fur Face Place". How cute is that??!!

I didn't tip my groomer last time, but recommended her profusely on Facebook. She said she really appreciated that. she knows I'm broke and Harley gets all my love an attention, I think when I send him for his christmas photo grooming, i'll bring her a gift card, or tip or something.

I really wish that tipping be stopped. I would like a price to pay and that's it. Weather its $45 or $60. Just give me the price. I hate tipping in general. Tipping used to be done when someone went above and beyond the expected service - but not anymore. Now its everywhere. There should be a wage properly set for all work - and no tipping. I also tip my groomers. She is the owner, as well. She charges me $45.00 for cut, wash, teeth brushing and nail trimming. I always go well above the recommended 20% tipping. But why should I????

Yes, Marge and I do tip well. Marge washes Max before she brings her in, and waits for her at the groomer, so Max always goes to the top. Carlo does not get any hair cut, but does get a complete wash, nails, teeth, and that is a lot of work!
