| Raini - One week later Raini Dae had the first Vet visit since we got her on Saturday and the Vet said that she will probably lose all of her teeth. She's switched completly over to wet food, so it will be easier for her to eat. Other than her teeth, she has an eye infection and an ear infection. Her tiny little anal sacks are infected too. So, my little bit is a sick girl. But Banfield here in Jacksonville is a wonderful place and we've got the whole plan to make her better. Good news is that she doesn't have heart worms and her heart sounds good for a 9/10 year old. She's active and they just fell in love with her. She goes on Wednesday for a complete shave down, then we'll work on getting her skin and coat back to a nice shiny beautiful look. I'm going to have to buy her a sweater though, because it's going to get cold and she won't have any coat for a while. Friday I take her back for her Dental cleaning and possible extractions. I'm a little nervous about that, but they know what they are doing, so I'll trust them. Raini is doing well and again, taking her was the best decision I could have made. My fiancee bought her a little Dog bed and she loves it! He's already spoiling her rotten. She lets Molly the basset know who's boss too! I'm very blessed that this has turned out so well. |

| I think it's so wonderful that Rani has such a good, loving home. You are the greatest. As far as her teeth are concerned, I fostered a Shih Tzu who only had a very few teeth and she did just fine. In addition to her wet food, I made her chicken breasts and chopped it up pretty fine. She adored it.

| I'm so glad to hear things are going so well too. I'm betting that with regular flea control and a good diet, her skin and fur will start looking better. Poor baby, she was rather neglected.

| I should have added that I have a small IG that doesn't have any teeth, and she eats dry food even. Doesn't chew it though, and I have to be careful about the size of anything she eats, she has tried to swallow stuff too big.

| Kelly, I just got back from vacation and haven't had a chance to welcome you to YT; WELCOME! And bless you for being willing to take on an older dog. It can be rough sometimes but it can also be very rewarding. I wish youthe best and will send up some prayers for your little one as she faces her health issues. I think you will manage just fine though, you obviously care a great deal for her. She's a lucky little thing! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | It is so wonderful she has you to get her back to the health and loving she deserved. Nikki my rescue had all his teeth pulled and gum work done the decay was so bad. He felt so much better and started eating more. He eats mostly canned but will eat small pieces of kibble and biscuits. I know Raini will feel and look like a million real soon. Bless you.

| Thank you for taking this little baby. Brandi was in the same boat, and she's doing fine. I got her when she was 7 yrs. She had all but 4 teeth pulled, all her hair cut off, spayed, urinary tract infections.....just horrible neglect but two yrs later you can't tell. She has a clean bill of health and just is the happiest little thing. She is such a little diva. I'll be thinking of your little one and hope someday soon she will also have a clean bill of health. It's really funny but a rescued dog probably cost more than a freakin puppy. Brandi I know cost me at least 1200.00 (not all at once) to get her a clean bill of health. I didn't get her from a rescue organization, I got her from a friend who was trying to find a home for a byb and I was able to get Brandi so I had to foot all the medical cost myself. Fortunately I was able to afford it but I think she would of been worth going into debt for even if I couldn't afford it. Last edited by yavenay; 11-01-2010 at 03:03 PM. |

| She will be almost as good as new before you know it. You've got the plan and soon she'll be feeling so much better without all of that stuff bothering her. Good for you!

| Yes you have to buy her a sweater. It's not as cold in Jacksonville as it is in New York but without her hair she is going to get cold. You are really great for taking such good care of her and know she is going to have a great life and she even has a big sister (Molly) and if Molly is anything like Chloe and Cleo, my Bassets she is going to love her. |
