| Playing or Fighting? How to tell The boys have times where I would think they are fighting. But tails are up and both want back together if I separate them. They roll around and chase, snarl, growl, bite, ... but never to "pain". Neither of them yelps or anything like that. They do not cause each other any pain or bloody bites. And then when Max runs to hide near me, Mickey will get a toy and tease him back to him by playig with it in his face and running. Stuff like that. How can I tell if it is play or not? Thanks

| If the dogs like each other most of the time they're only playing. Especially when their tails are wagging. My dogs play and growl all day. My two Basset Hounds have arguments more or less but nothing serious. Zoe my shorkie growls at Zach all the time because Zach is like a pesty baby brother and annoys her. She always gives Zach a warning growl first as if to stay get out of my face. I only worry when Zach my little yorkie plays with the basset hounds because they can get a little rough and being as they both weigh over 50 lbs and Zach iis only 5 lbs and Zoe is about 12 lbs but most of the time they're only playing and nobody gets hurt. |

| My 2 play like that - ALL DAY LONG. I can always tell when Coco has had enough when her growl changes. She's the oldest of the two and usually gives in first. Her growl sounds as though she is saying - Stay away from me, I've had enough.

| Sounds like playing to me! Jackson can sound and look REALLY rough when playing. Lots of noises and growling and rolling on backs and biting at necks. His "girlfriend" is Nala (she's about 6lbs, so less than half his size) and they wrestle, and Nala will roll on her back and put her legs up in the air, and Jackson is making growling noises and nipping at her neck.... and she loves EVERY minute of it and always goes back for more. As long as no tails are down, or they are uncomfortable, afraid, yelping, etc, and keep going back for more.... they are playing. Dogs will be dogs but more importantly, terriers will be terriers. Terriers definitely have a play style different from a lot of dogs.

| They are crazy little monkeys!!! My guys play all the time. It's usually my Pebbles who will come in for the kill if their playing is bothering her. She is a bit of a princess. Thinks she need to keep the peace.

| Mine make HORRIBLE noises when they are playing! My son laughs and says - isn't she PRECIOUS?? But when I go over to see what is going on - they are just playing. If I try and distract them with a toy; they will go right back to playing with each other. Sometimes, when Ringo gets really loud; Lucy will try and hide. That's how I know she has had enough and it's time to do something else. As long as they are not squealing, yelping (too much) and most definitely, no blood should be drawn . . . they are probably playing.

| Levi and his "cousin" Dallas (whom we live with) play loudly and absolutely nonstop. They run and chase and roll around and pounce all day long. And Levi is soooo loud! He growls and grunts. As long as they aren't yelping, and as long as their tails are up and wagging, I think they are fine.
