How Much Does Your Dog Weigh Just curious since my Vet told me today that Maxwell "weighs 8.2 lbs". I think I have a fat boy, but it's my fault for giving him so many treats. Maybe he's eating a lot lately....and with my "add-ins" is probably why, you think~? |
A very healthy, muscular, and athletic 15lbs :) |
You have to look at the yorkies body structure, height and length etc. My guys weight 4lbs and 3lbs. |
Levi weighs 5.5 pounds which is the perfect weight for his body size. Did your vet tell you the 8.2 pounds was too much? Some Yorkies just have larger body structure. |

I have a 7 lber and a 3 lber and definitely prefer the larger size of my boy. He is much less fragile and can do more without mom freaking out. |
I have 2 that are overweight Pixie is 4 lb 12 oz and should be no more than 4 lbs. Roxie is just under 6 lbs and should be closer to 5 1/2 lbs. Cali is just right at 5 lb 3 oz and Nikki my old guy is underweight at 5.3 lbs. Due to his age he doesn't seem to gain any weight. I have been trying to get Pixie and Roxie to lose a little weight by limiting treats and putting them on a lower fat food but they are not losing any weight. I need to step up their exercise. |

Darwin is 1 1/2 years old and 7 lb 12 oz, Mabel is 5 1/2 months and is 3 pounds. I love both of their sizes. |
It all depends on the body structure of the dogs. My 7 lber is just a stockier dog than my 4 lber. The standard is 4-7, so ideally they are just overall smaller dogs than your 8 lber. I wouldn't worry to much if your vet says he's healthy :) |

There are plenty of larger Yorkies out there larger than the standard - like Brit mentioned, her Jackson is 15 pounds but definitely healthy and the right weight for his larger frame. |
Preston is 16lbs, very stocky and muscular, while Paisley is almost as tall, but her body length is shorter, and we joke that without hair she would look like a stick dog. She weighs right at 6 lbs. My mother in laws dog Bella is about half as tall as Paisley, half her length, but weighs right under 6 lbs. She has the muscular stocky build that Preston has, only on a smaller scale. LOL I think it is all in the build of the dog. |

Copper's last vet visit had him at 3.7. He is 10 months old. I'm hoping he will get to 4 or more just because it seems like the more weight the less fragile he will be. :) |
Sunshine at 2 and a half YO is a solid 11lbs. His sister at 13 weeks 3.6lbs and a lil rolly polly . I am sure she will slim up a bit when she gets older . |
Pistol is 5.4 pounds. As long as your pup is healthy I wouldn't worry about the weight. |
Patches weighs 7 1/2 lbs Patches & Winnie |
Poppy was last weighed a couple of weeks ago and she was 5lbs then. |
Gambit-Bear, as my hubby now calls him, is 14 weeks yesterday and weighs in at a whopping 6lbs. LoL |
Zach is 6 months old and the last time he was weighed about 3 weeks ago he was almost 5 lbs. |
Farrah is a year old next week and is the standard 8" square and about 4.5lbs. Vanessa is preggers so no comment about her weight at the moment. : ) She is a little shorter in length but usually around 5lbs. |
Daisy weighs 2.2 lbs @ 6 months. |
Ollie is 1yr and just weighed in at the vet last Monday at 7.1. I didn't think he weighed that much!!! The vet said he is very healthy though. He is still a very energetic pup. |
My Bella is 2 years old 8.6 lbs and she is perfect:D |
I have a little cupcake... 3.3lbs |
Chloe is 5 1/2 months and is 5.7 pounds. |
My Coco is 5 years old and weighs 4.7 lbs of which my vet said - she was overweight - OMG!!! She does seem to have an extra chunky layering - HAHAHA! Beckham is still young - he's 9 months old and weighs 2.7 lbs. He seems to be good at this weight - not feeling fat or skinny either way. |
