| I would recommend going ahead and registering your pet for several reasons. #1 - having a registration in your name is "proof" of ownership in case anything would happen in the future that you needed proof. #2 - AKC uses income for registrations to pay their inspectors to inspect breeders and to fight bad bills & lobbyists who are trying to restrict our rights and pass bad bills. #3 - When you register your dog you get a free 30 day insurance and a coupon for a free vet visit plus emails and a free small magazine from AKC. It's a minimum of $20 to register and it's very simple to do, you can even complete the registration online very quickly. Congrats on your new family member Teresa |
