Yorkie Yakker | Finally, she's coming home! After waiting for weeks, the newest addition to our family, Princess, will be arriving at San Jose Airport this Saturday! We were having trouble shipping her to Fresno because it's so hot here (above 100 this whole week) we decided we couldn't wait for the weather to cool down and asked for her to be shipped to San Jose which is a three hour drive for us. Anyone had to drive this far to pick up their new yorkie? If so, how many stops should I make on the way back and are there any other supplies you recommend I bring other than the usual: towel, wipes, bowl, water, nutrical, harness and leash. Also, we still need to set up an appointment with a vet for her check up. Does anyone recommend Banfield (petsmart's vet center) or should I look for a different vet? Thanks! And please pray for a safe arrival for our Princess! |

| I STRONGLY urge you NOT to go with Banfield. Good luck with your new puppy! |

| Congrats on your new baby. Can't wait to see pics. As for what to bring, when we went to pick up Tia (2.5 hr drive), my car was packed with everything (blankets, towels, wipes, food, water, nutrical, toys, carseat, harness, lead, kennel, antibacterial stuff for us to wash our hands, etc). She fell asleep in my lap on the way home (excitement). I had her on a blanket and she pottied on it. No problem though. If it's a long drive, you may want to have a harness so you can stop and let her go potty....unless she is too young and hasn't had all her shots. Can't wait to see her! |

| Good luck and have a safe trip picking up your new baby. We drove from N.E. Minnesota all the way to the N.W. corner of Missouri to pick up our baby this past June. We stayed over night in a motel going down and coming back and it sure was a well worth trip. I brought a Vari-Kennel, blankets, washable p-pads, nutrical, toys and some canned food from my vet just in case she did not want to eat. Also brought bottled water and took water from the breeder's place too. Enjoy your trip ;I know you will be very excited to get your baby. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Good luck with your new puppy. We have had clients drive down from NYC to Ottawa which is an 8 hour drive to our home. Families who want a certain puppy will definitely take the time and overnight stay to make it happen. We had clients fly from Moscow to Toronto where we met them with their new Biewer puppy last summer. One Saturday we had a family from Tel Aviv fly in and that very same afternoon another family from Mexico City. It's a small world after all and families from all parts of it have made the journey to pick up their special puppy at our home. Of course we also ship puppies and in the last 28 years of doing so we have experienced zero problems. The airlines take great care of puppies that travel to various destinations. |

| I would stay away from Petsmart vets and urge you to select a vet with a good reputation in caring for small dogs.

| I agree. Stay away from vets in Petsmart, etc. Find a local well known vet with good recommendations. Ask around on here for some recommendations in the Fresno area. I have not heard anything good about petsmart vets...

| I never knew Petsmart had their own vets. I know their groomers are pretty good. Well good luck with your new baby. Drive Safe. |
