| Show Yorkies Out of the Ring I know that some of you show your yorkies, and I was just wondering if you have any pictures you would like to share? I'm curious to see how these cuties look when they are outside of the show ring! Do you tend to keep their hair long or short when you are not showing them?

| I don't show my yorkie cause he's too big, neutered, with bad coloring and has an overbite. But I help at shows, i'm going to show one or two yorkies now in November and I'm maybe getting a puppy who i will wrap and grow long coat on, I will show him Fido is growing long coat also but I'm not wrapping him, he's so big (touble the size of a ''normal'' yorkie, he's 6 kilo's but a yorkie should be 2 - 3,3 kilo's), i just think he's cuter with long coat , more like a teddybear ;D But when the next yorkie comes then i'll shave Fido again propably, he has so difficult coat that i couldnt spend 30-40 minutes a day to wrap the other yorkie and then another half an hour - an hour grooming Fido every day, he's not going to shows, just Junior handling. Are you planning on showing your yorkie? Showing a yorkie is very hard, the Yorkie is on the list of the 10 hardest dog breeds for the showring.

| Show dogs are usually kept in wraps when they're outside of the ring if they're still showing, but once they're retired usually they're cut down. Wrapping doesn't mean they loose any privileges of being a dog, it just keeps their hair clean and off the ground (breaking). Let me see if I can find a pic of mine in wraps. |

| Thank you so much for the information! I haven't gotten my yorkie yet, but was interested in showing at some point. I didn't realize that it was so complicated. Thank you for the insight!

If you're interested in showing, I would recommend going to a show in your area and get to know some of the local breeders. | |
