Please HELP!!!!!

I noticed little pee spots on the carpet when I came home from work, so I got a baby gate and locked him in the kitchen. He was doing good for awhile ( his pad is in the kitchen under this little desk thing) For about 2 weeks now he has been peeing and pooping on the kitchen floor. I dont know what to do, its like he is mad that I am locking him up and thats how he is paying me haha..


I have his puppy crate I think I am going to start locking him up in it again. It is a big one, enough room for a bed, pad and food/ water bowl. I fell so bad to leave him in there all day. I am at work from 8-430. I am able to give him a walk before I leave for work and of course when I come home... If I do lock him up in the crate..Do I put a pad in there??? I am confused on how to do this its been awhile lol


What do you all think of this? What is the best thing to do here? Its like he is a 2 month old puppy again!!!

I've heard you can leave them for one hr. per month old...if he's 6 mo. old, then 6 hrs....However, my Apple is over a year, and no way would she go 12 hrs....If you do crate him in a big crate, you should leave a pad, at one end...If you crate, in a small crate, you should have someone come over and let him out mid day to pee.....I never could get Apple house broken, 'till I stayed home w/her all day..Took me about 2 wks. and she was housebroken...One other thing is to use an xpen, and maybe put down a piece of linoleum, and put pads all over it...Btw, you can buy a remnant piece of linoleum, from a hardware, home improvement center for really cheap...

I saw on It's Me or the Dog that she uses an ex-pen and lines the WHOLE floor (inside the pen) with pads. Do that for a few days, then take one pad away. Then a few days later, take another pad away, etc. Do this until there is only one pad left. It could take up to 2 weeks for this transition.

If you're going to put him in a crate, I would in no way put a pad in there. That will just teach him to potty in the crate and that is something you don't want. Most dogs won't potty where they sleep, in their den. So if you want to leave him in a crate, you will have to expect him to hold it. I don't really agree with having a dog in a crate for 8 1/2 hours a day, but people do it. Is there no way you can hire a dogsitter? That's what I do, hehe. I go to peoples houses mid-day to give the dogs a potty break and it really seems to help. They get to stretch and go potty until owner gets home.

Never let your dog know that it upsets you when he does not go where you want him to. I have never scolded mine so therefore he is not aware that this might upset me. If they think their peeing and pooping upsets you, they may use it to get back at you when they are upset with you. Mine chews up papers when he is upset, but does not use the peeing and pooping thing.

Well he is 3 years old haha!! Thats why I locked him in the kitchen, but he started to pee all over the place. I dont want to lay pads everywhere I want him to know where he needs to pee..

I want to crate him, I think in the end it will teach him to hold it and go outside.. Hmm maybe I will look into a dog sitter.. See how much they are.. I would HATE to leave him in the crate that long..

Well I never yelled at him for the pooping and peeing every where. I just noticed it and then started to lock him in the kitchen..

I would look into it! I charge very little, because I'm not a business or anything and just do it on the side while getting thru college. So for a 30 minute visit, I do $10 per day. I would look for a poor college studentlike me... who wants to make something extra cash. I always give them references and my license # and everything so they can be assured of who I am and I am trustworthy. But they also have doggy daycare centers! I'm grateful to be home with Jackson most days currently but it won't be like that forever, and I've already looked into a few doggy daycares in the area. Even for just a few days a week.

He goes to a day care but she charges 20 a day.. so that wont work, I take him like 3 times a month..

My first year with Sophie Kate called for a lot of "retraining" in the potty area. Finally I just crated her and gave her limited roam area when I was home, after about 6 months she caught on. Just be consistent with Peanut, that was the part I was missing - we go out on schedule regardless of the day (no sleeping in for me).

I have a dog walker come everyday around noon and take her for a 30 minute walk. It is expensive but it is necessary for her (not sure about all dogs). Sophie Kate is now two and we are going to start putting her in limited roam after her noon time walk to see how she does (with her trusty pee pad).

I know its discouraging and it is hard not to get upset.

A med size crate for his size will work with just enough room for food and bed on one side and peepad on the other. dont confuse him by taking him outside when you get home from work. he will be very easily peepad trainable. when your gone for that many hours it will be impossible to hold it in. they need to go every 2-3 hours

I put ginger in her den while i'm at i only leave ginger very little water i feed ginger when i get home from work then we walk for 45mins everyday and she does very well good luck
