A small dog would be a Pembroke Welsh Corgi or a Sheltie. A big dog would be a German Shepherd (or Shepherd mix), or a Dobie. We hadn't even planned to get a dog, but now I'm so happy we took in our Dexter! |
Since this is hypothetical ... if I were faced with the decision and didn't choose a Yorkie or a Biewer ... it would have to be a Westie. Because of health problems, I have been at home since February. My daughter, 2 grandchildren and their 3 dogs live in our home as we are away about 90% of the time. They have 2 rescues ... a sweet old Shih Zeu sp? ... a very large black dog of questionable lineage ... part Lab because of huge webbed feet and the rest we just can't figure out, then there is the Westie, Jackson!! Although he is "purebred" according to all the paperwork, we all question it. But, that aside, Jack is the most personable, precious little soul we have ever met. He is a "vicious protector", sweet, funny, cuddly lapdog, etc. He has almost human eyes that can gaze into your soul and melt your heart. Yep, it would have to be the West Highland White Terrier! ;) |
Before I got my Yorkie I had a black Lab. She was awesome. She was a rescue though and ended up having epilepsy, thus us having to put her to sleep since we couldn't get it under control and upping her meds wasn't an option. :( I was really in love with Papillons and Westies for a while, so I'd say I'd go with one of those. I'd love to have a big dog again, but not in this tiny apartment. :) |
I have wanted a Yorkie for about 20 years but it took me until this year to get one. I ended up getting 2. Over the past 20 years I have spent 10 years in the Navy and had a boxer during some of that time. She was super sweet. She had been dropped off by another military person for training and they never came back and got her. After I got off active duty and went in the reserves I wanted to get a dog again and my son really wanted a big dog. We had a big yard so I agreed. We rescued a German Shepherd mix. After he left us we waited some time but I fell in love with a Papillon Puppy. We got one and were very happy. Later I came across a Yorkie breeder and decided that I could and would finally have my dream. I ended up falling in love with 2 and got them both. I just could not decide between them. If I were to ever "go big dog" again I would have to move first because I have very selfish and borderline abbusive neighbors. I came home one day and the neighbors kid was spraying my shepherd with a water hose because he barked at her. Sorry I rattled on. It still bugs me. Anyway, my big dog pick would be a Great Dane. They are gentle giants with hearts of gold. Right now our home is full. We have my 2 Yorkies, my son's Boston Terrier and my dh Papillon. We also have 3 cats (2 are rescues). We would have more I know if my husband would say yes. I have a big heart and would rescue all that I could. I satisfied that need by working with a small dog rescue. It has been great to help them find their forever homes. I even dog sit for one of the rescues I placed when they go out of town. :D Sorry I talked too much again :(. |
I would want a lab - but shedding is such an issue...it will probalby never happen. |
i love chihuahuas , i have 2 and 1 yorkie. so i would say a chihauhau :) |
We currently have two labs and just added our little Memphis (yorkie) to the mix. So, if I had to pick a second breed it would be another lab (black or chocolate). I think someday I'll have another yorkie though, I'm really enjoying having Memphis and love the breed so far. |
A shih tzu. |
what would my 2nd choice be Well of course my first choice would be a Yorkie. And my 2nd choice would be a YORKIE. So I know you would guess what my 3rd choice would be too.. A Y O R K I E !!!! Love those little guys .But just can't understand WHY they are the 2nd most popular breed in the Nation. If they are so popular why is it them when I go out with my guys I never see any? Where are they then?????:aimeeyork |
If it could not be a Yorkie and I had to get another breed, a Scottie, Westie, or Great Dane. :) |
