| biewer VS yorkie, personality differences? Can any biewer/yorkie owners tell me a little bit about that? |

| I had a yorkie girl before, she passed away two weeks ago. Now I really need a new baby to fill the void. But it is so hard to find a puppy girl right now. I talked to a few breeders, one of them have a litter of biewer. This may be the only chance I have if I want a puppy within 3 months, otherwise I'll have to wait a long long time. I'm fine with the look of biewer, but I really concerned about the personality, I knew they were from the same line, but are they the same sweet cuddling ones as yorkies? |

| I don't know the difference, but just wanted to say I'm sorry about your little Yorkie girl. Hope you find your new one soon! Welcome to Yorkietalk! |

| I have found that my Biewer is much more laid back than my 2 Yorkies. She prefers to kind of stay out of the action and is not as rowdy as the other two. When we have people over, she greets them and then slinks off on her own to nap where it's quiet while the other two do whatever it takes to get attention and stay in the middle of everything. Not sure if that is really a "Biewer trait" or just a "Chipsie trait." Last edited by BamaFan121s; 09-13-2010 at 04:37 AM. |

| I have both Biewers & yorkies and it seems that my Biewers have always been very laid back & cuddley they like to be held like babies but my yorkies love their time in my lap to, sometimes i need a bigger chair. you can't go wrong with either one you choose, sorry about your baby

| in general, the personalities are not much different. But the personalities will vary from one dog to another. I have not met a Biewer that was not friendly, loving and loves people. You can't go wrong with either.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I'm sorry to hear of your loss! I own both. To be honest, to me they are the same dog, and as with all dogs they all have different personalities. I love them both |

| I agree, pretty much the same except the Biewers tend to be a little more loving and don't have as much of that "Yorkie temper"

| Haley is my first and only Biewer, and I have to say that she has been a trip from the second I got her. She is the most outgoing, spoiled, sneaky, demanding, {did I mentioned spoiled?} dog I have ever seen! She moved right in and took over. She wants love, all of the love. She will get what she wants and when she wants it. All my babies have different personalities, and all are very loving, but Haley has been a new experience. I dont know if it is because she is a biewer, or was just really spoiled before she came to live with me.

| I cannot speak of the Biewer, however I have both parti colored yorkies and standard colored yorkies and they each have their own personality to themselves but still have the general Yorkie personality and traits. Gotta get the ball, go go go, or nah I will just sit on your lap thanks...etc. But they are all independent, outgoing, active. So to me they are all the same just different perks here and there.... I prefer the naughty mouthy ones and my partner prefers the more laid back ones....to each his own.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | We have both Biewers and Yorkies in our breeding program and find that they both have very similar traits. Very affectionate and loving. Dogs take on the character of the owners. If you buy a well socialized puppy it will likely stay that way during it's lifetime. |

| I have both. Yorkie female and Biewer male. They are not the same temperament. The Biewer needs more exercise, the Yorkie is more independent, the Biewer is more snugly and the Yorkie more vocal and intense about guarding the house. But they are both wonderful. The Biewers cannot get enough exercise without walks where as you can play with my Yorkie and tire her out. Both have their hormones but I had the Yorkies uterus and cervix removed to prevent breeding so she isn't lazy due to being spayed. They are just different. |

| I have a Yorkie and a Biewer. They are both the same size and age. What a difference in personalities. My Yorkie is much more stand-offish. She decides who she wants to sit with and when. My Biewer is a love-bug. Lay down on the couch and he becomes a scarf. Lays across your neck. He has to be in contact with you. Friendly to everyone, where as my Yorkie takes a while to warm up. We lost our Yorkie after 12 years and I felt I couldn't deal with another one - I missed my first too much. My husband wanted another one. I thought the Biewer would be a good compromise. Nope - he had to have his Yorkie. We got both. They get along fine, are the same age and weight, but my Yorkie is the Alpha dog, all 4-pounds of her!!! My mom calls her a snob....I say "she is not a snob, she is a Yorkie". They are both the loves of my life but each has their own personality. |
