| How many words does your Yorkie know? Bilbo has a pretty good vocabulary--outside, potty, treat, bang, bye bye, Daddy, Mama, supper, breakfast, eat, down, hey, Cowboys, Grandma, Pops, Aunt Lori, toy, ball, Frisbee, down, up, sit, stay, swim, bath, towel, get it, give, leave, and that all important one, No! Of course that's not all he understands. And another question--do you talk baby talk to your Yorkie? I made a point to use proper English with my children, but Bilbo, he gets the whole baby talk gamut. Sometimes, my hunny looks at me like I've cracked! |

| When Cooper was a puppy and I hired a trainer, I was told that Yorkies can have a vocabulary understanding of up to 500 words.

| Too many! I've resigned myself to the fact that I will spelling at least 1/2 of all my sentences spoken in my home.

Mine know quite a few. It makes life so much easier. Along with the common words, like out, eat, etc., they know mommy's garage, daddy's garage--we have pads in there for them, kitchen door, (this all makes taking them out easy), harness on/off, drink water, medicine, wipe your butt--they will stand still for me when I have to clean their backsides after a potty.

| Levi knows a lot of words - but he is stubborn! If he doesn't want his "dinner" or he doesn't want to hear "go to your room" or if he doesn't want to drop his toy when I say "out"....he hesitates or just stares at me...when I know he understands exactly what I am saying. However, if I just whisper the word "treat" his little ears perk up - even if he isn't close by. And the baby talk...I can usually refrain, but sometimes he looks so adorable that I just HAVE to baby talk him just a little!

| Roxie knows sit, stay, leave it, breakfast, dinner, treat, food, hungry, mommy, daddy, Wubba (her favorite toy), out, water and I'm sure a host of others that I am not remembering right now. Sometimes we have to spell words so that she doesn't understand us! I KNOW for a fact that she does NOT understand "no" or "stop it" LOL! I don't talk baby talk to Roxie, but for some reason I do talk in a really high voice a lot of the time when I am talking to her. I must sound like a complete dope to outsiders.

| I have to spell CAT because he goes crazy if he thinks there's a cat outside. He knows quite a few words and phrases: eat, chicken, cheese, what do you want?, want to go on Mommy's bed?, where's your brothers?, take your pill, want to go out? If he's done something wrong and I say - What did you do?, he puts his ears down and looks at the floor. It's so cute that I cave in and pick him up and kiss him!! |

Hmmm.... I often just talk to my babies and most of the times, girls(boys don't really care much unless its about food or toy) look at me straight in my eyes and it makes me think that they know more than what I think..
