However, if I found myself confronted by such a person and couldn't escape, I do like the "parting shot" - "You know, if there was a human standard and your parents had been required to meet that standard prior to breeding, we wouldn't be having this discussion. I'm a New Yorker also and I would have said "You're not perfect do you think your parents should have gotten a full refund for you" Among alot of other choice things.

Guys, it's no better if they are small! I'm getting pretty tired of the 'rat comment'. "That dog is nothing but a big rat".

"Say, is that a teacup?" My girlfriends brothers cousins breeds teacups so I know all about them." "Im pretty sure your dog is a teacup" . . . ."It IS a breed. My sisters uncles cousins daughter has one" . . . .

I asked her where she got her information from and she said that she has been a breeder for years and has shown her "real" Yorkies in many shows. Furthermore she mentioned she was the board member of some weird Yorkie organization.

I was just so overtly insulted and disgusted by this woman's disposition and the audacity to impose her beliefs (wrong nonetheless). I am a true New Yorker, so I gave her some colorful language (I am too embarrassed to mention them here) and sent her on her merry way.

WOW this took over a week to get off my chest! Thanks YT! Hey , have any of you guys experienced this?

Dumb A$$! How's that for NY language? LOL I haven't experienced anything of that magnitude. But let me just say that with your knowledge and her obvious lack of breed standards, you get the last laugh. Colorful language or not.

Personally, I would have told her she must not have been very good at being a judge if she thought only smaller yorkies meet the standard.

ETA: I am the type who would have no problem saying to someone something along the lines of "thank goodness we don't require humans to be bred to standard".

OOOHHH so funny and so true!!! It means the same thing in Georgia too!! I personaly will never understand why perfect strangers feel compelled to make rude, unwanted comments! LOL, love this thread!

I can barely take Catherine anywhere without someone saying "Oh, is she a teacup?" and that inevitably leads to the "there is no such thing as a teacup" conversation. And the person (who doesn't know any better) was just making a remark that she's cute and small, but I go off about irresponsible breeders and end up looking like the crazy dog lady.

I'm all the way in California and I to get comments, one time my bfs sister told me, "wow hes getting so big, are you upset hes that big" (hes 6lbs) i said, no i don't care how big he is as long as hes healthy, some people ugh!!!!!!
