| Face touching! Poppy does not like her face being touched!! I gave her a bath tonight and she wasvery good. I brushed her coat and blow dryed her hair afterwards and again she was very very good but when i came to removed the gunk out her eyes she wouldnt let me touch her face and tried to bit me. I told her no and continuted to just stroke the side of her face softly and talked softly to her so she knew it was not a bad thing. Did anyone else have this problem? If so how do you all get the gunk out your babies eyes? I have eyes wipes which i use and she hates me going anywhere near her face.

| Fynnlie was like that at first, but I'd give him a treat and touch his face, give him a treat, and touch his face. He's fine now. Mostly, he just thinks I'm playing.

| Just a thought Do the wipes you are using have alcohol in them..... maybe they are burning her eyes. |

Then I sit her on the couch facing me with her chin cradled in my hand. I've found that she's less averse to a warm wash cloth versus the cold wipes. Good luck.

| Roxie HATES having her eye crusties cleaned! It's a two-person job here One of us holds her head still while the other gets the eye crusties with a tissue or paper towel.

| I dont know where i read this but it helped me... so you can do all the suggestions on this thread while u slowly work on mine Edward was the same way so some one wrote that if u touch her when she is in a relaxed sleepy snuggly state in all the places she doesnt like she will start associating it with soothing touches. like when Edward would lay next to me and wanted to be petted i would very softly touch him around his eyes and mouth and after a few times when i give him a bath he lets me get rid of the gunk with my own fingers like nothing!

| Beard My wife cleans the "eye boogers", and I can assure you that neither of our girls like it. My wife sits them on her lap, pets them and praises them and removes the offending crusties with one hand while holding their "beard" firmly (yet gently) with her other hand. She does it because she has fingernails and can remove them more easily. When I do it, I go the warm washcloth route. I read that tip about holding the beard on here to get them to hold still while trimming the hair around their eyes. Hope this helps....of course if there's too much drama you may have to cease and desist and try again a little later. |

| Sandy hates having his eyes cleaned by me but he lets my mom do it. I've to tell him, 'Let me clean your eyes and you'll get a Cheerio...' if I want to get the job done. I think Cheerio is the magic word. |

| Sammy doesn't like to get the ga-ga cleaned from his eyes either. He will try to push my hand away with his paw. I take a washcloth with warm water on it and wipe the area, then I take off the ga-ga with my fingers. All the while I tell him what a good boy he is. Then he gets a treat!! |
