| Jorja had her puppies! She was very quiet all day yesterday and when I went on an errand last night at 8:30 and she wasn't at the door wanting to go with me I knew something was up. I got back home about 10 last night and went to bed and realized she was still up digging and "nesting" in the whelping box...usually she beats me to bed and goes right into her and Jett's sleeping kennel. LOL About 11:30 I checked on her because she was still awake and noticed her contractions. I sat with her all night and 3 boys were born at 1:18 am, 1:59 am, 2:45 am, and then at 4:32 a little girl was born. I knew from xrays that 4 puppies were expected. Jorja did a wonderful job all on her own and has taken to nursing and cuddling them like a pro! The babies weighed between 3.3 oz and 4.45 oz. (I used my digital weight watchers food scale. LOL) Anyway, all is good ... except my male was in the sleeping kennel next to the whelping box I made and I swear I wanted to give him a cigar and tell him to chill out. He was so concerned and nervous as a long-tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs! LOL

Thank you. No names yet... I am hoping my hubby will let me keep one but I'll let the new families name their babies.

| Puppies Congrats! Was this your 1st experience with yorkie pups? If so, how did you handle the pregnancy? I have a 7 month old girl & i want to mate her but scared of the negative possibilities. Can you suggest anything? |

| Wow, cool, congratulations! So glad everything went nicely for you and the little mama...Just wanted to tell you, that since you will be watching them, as they grow, before they go to their new homes, you may start calling them names, and the new owners may like them...You, of all people will be seeing the first aspects of their little personalities...Hope you have lots of enjoyment over the next 12 weeks or so...All the best to you and your new little family... Maggie & Apple & Buzz & Cha Cha the Chorkie... |

Breeder Talk - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community I'm not a breeder, but I know 7 months is way too young! The experienced and ethical breeders will start by telling you to find a mentor in your area, breeding is not something to just jump into! There is a lot of education, testing, evaluating, etc.. that goes into it LONG before you should start!
