LOL- I know what you mean. I hadn't heard of them before YT. But now I want one of those and a parti and .... They are like potato chips, can't have just one and you want to try all the flavors! |
They really are beautiful. I had never heard of one until I joined YT either... and REALLY want one :) Maybe in a few years time when I get my own place Poppy can have a biewer brother or sister :D |

BTCA (Biewer Terrier Club of America) is an affiliation that I looked for when I was picking out a Biewer puppy. There was an excellent thread about the difference between a Biewer and a Parti also in this section. We're on a waiting list for a Biewer; our little boy will be here at the end of October or first of November. I'm hoping for great health, first of all, and I'm a fan of the tri-colored ones (with brown, blueish-black, and white, especially in their crown area). The breeder's sire and dam had this feature with silky coats. I noticed some puppies that I looked at were very similar to a Parti, yet their tails were long. :animal-pa |

I was talking to a Biewer breeder and she said both here and in Germany they are trying to get the Biewer to be known as...American Biewer and in Germany they want to use to Germna Biewer...no terrier used. They hope at some point to be recognized by AKC. AS to size..I have a friend with 3 and 4 pounders only. I am not a Biewer breeder, but admire the pure Biewer. |

I agree with the smiley faces of Deb and MK.. they both have beautiful Biewers.. the sizes (as well as structure, personality, character etc) of the Biewer is to be the same as that of a Yorkie.. the only difference is in the coloring.. the same is true with the AKC Parti Yorkie (however the Parti usually has a docked tail as the Yorkie where the Biewers are undocked). You will however see Biewers of all sizes, just as you see Yorkies of all sizes.. the biewer has been in this country a very short time.. I know one of the things that breeders are trying to work on is more consistency in the sizes of the pups at maturity.. this, as all good things do .. takes time but I feel we are getting there. I would also like to know what the poster means by a Pure Biewer ?? Do you believe some are mixed with other breeds? Diana :animal-pa |

They are urging the words Terrier or Yorkshire not to be connected with the American Biewer...they want them AKC recognized with a set standard and eligible to show AKC.. |

I didn't post anything about a pure Biewer, but I would assume that they are referring to a Biewer dam and a Biewer sire? There is a lot of controversy about breeding a Biewer to a Yorkie, or a Biewer to a Parti. There are pros and cons to each side of the argument. Breeding a Biewer to a Biewer focuses more on the appearance, and people in favor of "crossbreeding" (but they are all Yorkies) focus on improving the health. |
