Does anyone know anything about Tiny Teacups world in AZ? Does anybody know anything about tiny teacup world? the web address is Home we looked for reviews to see if there were any red flags and couldn't find them on the USDA puppy mill site. Any thought?? Thanks for your help |
The first clue that this is a place to avoid is on the home page. Teacup, micro and pocket pups are all code words for dogs that are too small. AKC doesn't recognize a "teacup" distinction. And a really good breeder wouldn't sell such small dogs because they are at much higher risk for long term health problems. |
I couldnt get past the homepage..."you'll never find smaller..." A reputable breeder does not intentionally breed for tinies. I would advise against this website. |
RUN!! I don't think it sounds like a good thing. |
I don't even need to look past the name & home page for reason already mentioned! :thumbdown:thumbdown |
There are so many red flags. The poor puppies......full registration for those tiny girls :thumbdown |
Red flags all over and teaCup breeding ... Shipping ... to many things a careful reputable breeder avoid. Not good . |
You have another thread asking about a breeder in Missouri. Several yt members warned you to stay away from that breeder and to be aware of key words disreputable breeders use as marketing ploys, words like teacup, micro, mini, etc. I can not stress to you strongly enough to please read what others posted to you. Educate yourself much further before purchasing your new puppy.....it could save you much heartache later on! Info Beamer's mom posted on the other thread.....please read it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/fea...ead-first.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/fea...ease-read.html[/QUOTE] |
:thumbdown:thumbdown Sad, just so sad!! :( |

I wholeheartedly agree. In your other thread you were given great info on how to find a reputable breeder in your area. #1 rule is to buy local, so you can check everything out personally. #2 Buy your breeder first, and then the puppy. You want to find someone that will be there for you for at least 15+ years. Someone who will take back a puppy at any point in the puppy's life. Please read all the stickies at the top of the "For Sale" forum. It has a lot of helpful information. |

Others have already given you excellent advice. Micro mini, teacup, are definate red flags....but, that maybe what attracted you to this breeder.....You need to do some more research in these tinies. And remember no reputable breeds for tinies or will sell tinies, they are placed in preapproved homes, that understand the care of tinies, at no fee. As these breeders do not want to sell the possibility of heartache. |

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ennels-mo.html it is so sad that some people are so misinformed about Yorkies that they go out looking for "teacup Yorkies" |
My suggestion would be to look at breeders locally. There are plenty of breeders in Ma, RI, CT, NH that are in driving distant to you. Stay away from anyone that even mentions the word "teacup". |

This one appears to be a broker: "often times we purchase them from home based hobby breeders" "We deal with many large and small breeders" |

But, besides the knowledge of health issues, a reputable breeder will not sell these puppies, but place them in a knowlegable, caring home that understands these issues. |
And, of course, we all know how those "teacup" puppies from greeders have a surprising way of turning out to be supersized! |

I remember seeing on tv two ladies that took their breeder to court because the poodle mixes grew to be 12 lbs when they were sold and advertised as "teacup" puppies. It turns out the puppies were 2 lbs overweight each, and the breeder said that the puppies were "teacups" as puppies but wouldn't be "teacups" as adults. The judge ruled that although the breeder was misleading in her advertising, it would be unfair to determine the size of any living being when it is only 12 weeks old. Both dogs were healthy, although slightly overweight, which was the new owners fault. Although an educated guess can be made when a puppy is 12 weeks old, it is nothing more than a guess. If you, OP, and your mom are very determined to get a smaller yorkie, please consider adopting an adult. |

He did find for the Plaintiff. He said American Kennels had misrepresented the "teacup" status and ordered the plaintiff to be refunded $1,000. The judge had quite a sense of humor when he wrote his decision. O'Rourke v. American Kennels |

I don't think this one was ever on television. I heard about it because it was a landmark case in false advertising by breeders. It's funny enough to be on television, though, isn't it? I could see it with that crazy judge in the Anna Nicole case! |
I saw the one that was on TV. It wasn't this one though. I am sure the one on TV was on Judge Joe Brown and the dogs were poodles not Maltese. I watch the judge shows too:):) |
Ah, I see. I love to watch some of the tv court shows, especially when the case is like the one you mentioned. Some of that stuff is very entertaining! When I think I can't be amazed with a person's ignorance, I find I am mistaken. :) |
Wow :(...there are so many red flags here, I don't have time to name them all. Others have already mentioned some of the red flags. Just look at the ear-set, for one, and we can see it's not as it should be (and look at the adults on the site as well). The use of micro, mini, teacup speaks volumes. Also, what really bothers me (since I live in Phoenix) is the fact that this breeder mentions "cargo shipping" without ANY mention whatsoever of the HEAT/seasonal issues that can be life threatening if "shipping" from Phoenix, Arizona - where it's about 105-115 degrees during the day, this time of year . Many airlines will not even *allow* cargo shipping of pets in and out of Phoenix this time of year, btw. |
OMG-how funny. The Judge Joe Brown show with the dog breeder is on right now! On Fox. The vet is an idiot, though. |

It's really sad that a Judge knows more about AKC and meeting/not meeting show standard than the vet does. I found a link to the episode on youtube. It really is kind of funny/sad all at the same time. ETA: The vet seems all over the place. At one point she says because there is white on the poodle, it means he's not a poodle. But then she kind of back tracks and backs up the defendants. |
Thanks so much for finding that! I will *so* watch it when I get home!!! |
