| Is she depressed? Roxie was very itchy last week, so we took her to the vet and he gave her a steroid shot. She has been a total mope since then! She lays around all over the place, and doesn't seem to want to play at all. She doesn't jump up to greet us when we come in or come down the stairs, and doesn't even bark during Jeopardy anymore. She eats and drinks just fine, but has been pooping more than usual (2-3 times a day). I'm worried about her. Should I call the vet's office, or am I being super-paranoid here?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Probably as depression is a side effect of steriods. You may also see increased thirst and appetite. I don't believe your vet can do anything to relieve these symptoms but it should resolve itself once the steriods are out of her system. Depending on the dosage given that can be anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks. Hope she feels better soon

| Thanks so much for the quick reply! I had no idea that the steroids could stay in her system for that long! I didn't want to call the vet and have them think I am nuts for worrying so much. It makes me so sad to see her this way.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Again the length of time depends on the dosage...you could call and ask how long she may experience any side effects.
