| A couple more questions so we are visiting multiple breeders. I have 2 things I was wondering. 1) One of the litters had puppies that were quite different in size. They were 13-14 weeks but one was 2lbs, 3 were somewhere around 3, but then one was alot bigger around 4.5lbs. Is this typical? It seemed odd, especially since the other litter (different breeder), all the pups were closer to identical. 2) How are dogs usually weaned from the mom? Is the mom usually hid from the puppies? or at least some of the time? |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | It's not unusual to see different sizes in one litter. It happens sometimes. Most pups are weaned by momma herself. She tends to spend less and less time with them.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Its common to get pups of different sizes in the same litter. Just like there can be a runt of the litter there also can be a pup which is larger then the rest. And the mother will wean the pups herself as bchgirl said because she will stop spending as much time with them as they get older.
