| Why does he do this :( First of all want to say hi to all my fellow yorkie talkers have been away for a bit. Second my problem is Laddy has started chewing his fur off in clumps. No its not fleas we have them both on pills and thankfully that has taken care of that problem. I have tried the hotspot spray thinking maybe that was it. Tried medicated and oatmeal shampoos. Tried cutting back on his baths, and believe me thats not easy since he loves the outside and can get really smelly lol. Please if anyone has and idea to help me let me know. He has destroyed his coat and now I am going to have to cut it short, he is such a skinny little guy naturally that he looks so much better in full coat so I really hate to have to keep him short. Help please.

No Longer a Member | My cat was the same way, after getting rid of the fleas he was still chewing off his fur in clumps. I took him back to the vet and we found out he was allergic to flea/tick/bug bites and so even though the fleas were gone the toxins (or spit) were still in his system so we had to treat for that. He got a shot and I had to give him a pill every week for 4 weeks, plus I had to bomb the house because even though he was treated for fleas they could still hop up and bite him even if they wouldn't survive. So, check with the vet and also make sure that your house is completely treated for fleas. |
