It takes longer for the body to absorb and reach a steady state with oral doses so his blood levels have more than likely dropped. Definitely keep an eye on it. He may need to have his levels drawn and his dosages readjusted if the seizures continue or get worse. In the meantime, you can help him reach a steady state by making sure the medication is given in even intervals (I'm sure you already know this, but twice a day with seizure medication really means every 12 hours, etc.)

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | He wasn't given an IV dose while he was at LSU? Seems unusual (from a nurses perspective) to me because loading doses are generally given IV to stop the seizures. It brings the blood levels up the fastest. If that's the case, then it doesn't seem likely that you would have noticed any effect from the med the first two days because of how long it takes to get the meds to a therapeutic level when given orally. I learn something new here every day on YT.

| I'm just confused, because he's been on the meds 4 days. It does however give me a sense of calm knowing that the test results came back normal. I just don't know why he's still having little seizures.
