YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Try putting this question in the breeders section. rule of thumb not under 5lbs and all breed specific health tests done.

| I agree! There is a new yorkie standard, they should weigh between 25-50 pounds in order to breed

Yes! I forgot about the new standard and then of course there is the unwritten rule that the male should be cuter than the female......

| Forget what I just posted, got it confused with another poster that is looking for a mentor; 2 weeks before the girl is ready to whelp.

Your step-dad just bought you this small Yorkie as a graduation present just about a month ago if I recall correctly, and now you are thinking of breeding her????? unbelievable!!! Breeding Yorkies, or any other dog breed should not be undertaken by an inexperienced 18 year old! And it is not only the weight that has to be taken into consideration!

I started reading this thread and was expecting it to get a little "ugly". I know that breeding is sometimes a touchey subject on here. I was chuckling and smiling as I was reading most of these. I think the female should definitely be around 30 lbs and I completely agree that the male should be better looking.
